There's a few guys on here that enjoy golf. I was just thinking about where my season is at and likened it to golf.

In a time sense, I'm about to take an approach shot on 12. (4 out of 6 weeks gone)

In an opportunity sense, there's some short par fours and 5s ahead. (rut is coming)

In an experience sense, I need to hit some lucky shots to put myself down for a respectable score.

In a "looking back" sense, I hit some decent shots (killed two doe) but am slicing the heck out of my buck ball. I've only seen two bucks and both of them weren't shooters.

Also, in golf as in archery, confidence is everything. I was sure I knew that at the very least, I could hunt my does as the rut approached and play the lottery, BUT I've lost 2/3 of my does and don't know where to find them. I'm getting a bit worried, but what do I do in golf when the chips are down...........grip and rip. Full throttle. I'm gonna "Tin Cup" this thing if I have to. Good luck boys, it's make it or break it time.

Not to mention it takes some money to play golf (hunt) and this amount can vary greatly depending on what clubs you have and course you play (equipment/land)

Even a bad day golfing (hunting), is still a good day.

    Bad shots really upset you.

You can't let your nerves get the better of you.

You encourage your significant other to take interest in it. She decides she likes it and gets mad that you go without her. Or worse, if she's better than you, well.. you get the picture.

Yeah, I can see the similarities.

The first 9 rounds I blew way too many easy putts (you know this).

I've seen way more deer than ever before, including 4 shooter bucks, three within range, and two misses. Equipment was part of it, but it's no excuse. Down to the last two weeks I should have the utmost confidence, but it's just the opposite.

Not sure how you would liken that all to golf, but it's my summarization of the season as it stands.

One shot at a time. Never look ahead at the remaining holes or shots. That means you're not 100% committed to the task at hand.

Again concentrate on what's in front of you and what you have to do next.

    .

Don't leave it up to luck. Outwork the next guy and put yourself in a better chance for success and it will happen.

I only look back for education purposes only (what I need to work on). Never dwell on the wouldashouldacoulda....... Learn from the past and make yourself better and don't dwell on the past misfortunes.

Golf and hunting are twins separated at birth. It really is amazing how similar they are. Now get a possitive attitude and go lay down some bone!!!!!!!!

For my season so far I would have to say it compares to me playing golf and being two over after 16. I know I have plaid great, had some good luck and made the shots when I was given them. I know that even if the rest of the season doesn't go great it is still a record year for me. (I shot my record of 75 on a par 72 this year in palm springs). All and all I have had some beers celebrating and look forward to seeing how I get to finish the season off.
