Well what's your take on the decision the Colts organization made to sit their starters in the second half of the Jets game? Personally I think it's one of the worst things I've ever witnessed in sports. I dont' know why (not a Colts fan) but it bugs the heck out of me. You have a chance to do what no team in the HISTORY of the NFL has done and you just tank it and give up the game? Unbelievable! Watching the 2nd string offense and defense was a comedy show. I think I heard Peyton has started 190 straight games. So..... he's played 18 or so games in a row this year (including pre season), 190 starts in a row and the Colts organization has a sudden premonition that the 2nd half of that Jets game was going to be the fateful moment he goes down? I mean, the dude didn't even hit the turf in the first half. And why couldn't he have got hurt in the first half? The whole thing doesn't make any sense to me. Not to mention I almost got ROYALLY screwed in fantasy football.
I could see if it was a blowout (just like any other week) that you rest your starters, but that was pathetic. Now the Jets can go into Cincy with a chance to make the playoffs, a loss to the Colts ends their season. This isn't pee wee league, play to win or stay home!
I just don't see where taking a fall last Sunday will get them any closer to winning the SB. The Chargers will stomp them in the playoffs anyway.:D
I don't agree with the decision, but it's a mute point. Colts aren't winning it. :D I despise the colts, and nothing would please me more than seeing the Vikes face off with the Pats in the final game.
Come on now, the Vikings just got beat by the Bears, lol. I didn't agree with the decision at all. The players could just as easily get injured on the first play of the game than any other time during the game. Sorry to tell ya guys, but the Colts will win the Super Bowl again this year.
I think they owed it to their fans to go for it, if they had like a 20 point lead then yes sit Peyton... But in a close game like that no way man.... But on the other hand if they left him out there and he broke his leg or something, how far would they get in the playoffs with the back up?
a half a football game is 1/32nd of the season and if they rest them a 1/2 a game next week that will be 1/16th of the season. That reduces one's injury chances by nearly 7%. Nerd analysis over and out.
If they do not win, then all the analysts can point to this and say I told you so. One fact remains, the only ring they got was when they had to fight all the w2ay through. Remember, they were down by 18 against the pats that year...resting them has not been the answer for any team lately, too much competition.
If fear of injury was the concern they had better not play the starters this week. You can get hurt at any time. I'll bet everyone including Manning starts this week.
I heard yesterday that the starters will play the first half again. Now I'm REALLY confused. That makes absolutely zero sense to me. Last week I'm assuming they played the first half hoping they would get about a 30 point lead on the Jets knowing the starters were going to be out of the second half and they could keep the undefeated record going. This week makes no sense to play them based on their logic of the phantom injury plague that is supposed to hit the colts. They can't improve their playoff position and no undefeated record to maintain. Again based on THEIR logic why play them at all? They can be hurt in the 2nd half of the Jets game but not the 1st half of the Bills game? Uhh huhh. Makes sense to me.
I don't like the idea personally, especially when it seems that so many of those players wanted to go for an undefeated season.
How does it not make sense? They still want to the starters to take some real time snaps, just like they did last week. If they didn't allow the starters to take some game speed snaps, that would be almost a month between games for the Colts. Sure, guys like Peyton and Reggie Wayne would be able to just turn it right back on, but what about the younger players? Would they just be able to turn it back on after a month of rest? Maybe so, maybe not. I don't see what is so hard to understand about wanting your starters to get some snaps.
The younger players on the Colts blew it. They had the game and blew it. I like the coaching move last week for the Colts.
Id bench them for the whole game, well maybe let them take one snap to keep his start alive. The Dolphins already did the undefreated think 30+ years ago. What did it prove, nothing. Im not taking chances going into the post season. There was nothing to loose. Home field was already locked up.
