I thought 10 years was the average time to complete high school in LA. No?

    Yeah, gross.

There are many reasons for the legalization of Marijuana.

    1) More benign than alcohol.

    2) Has medicinal properties.

    3) Would be a source of tax revenue.

    4) Would be a job creator.

    5) Would reduce the amount of money spent on:
    - The enforcement of laws
    - The imprisonment of marijuana offenders

    6) Would reduce the amount of money made by the drug cartels.

    7) Would reduce the amount of violence related to trafficking of marijuana.

If those aren't enough reasons, I don't know what are.

The major proponents of anti-marijuana laws:

    - Alcohol
    - Tobacco
    - Pharmaceuticals

18 States and Washington DC now have medical marijuana laws
    2 now allow recreational use

In the future I think the entire country will move in this direction, but it will still take time.

It's your world your creating. Sometimes you have to think about the weaknesses of other and not your own strengths. You my drink responsibly and be able to handle weed but many can't so you may have to be the one that come to their defense from evil weed corporations. I'm just saying, you guys are all young bucks and can shoot from the hip but when you get older you'll start to see the repercussion of this bs.

I'm pretty comfortable driving a car around a track at speeds of 150mph and it's a blast but I know many would get killed if our highways had no speed limits so I'm all for speed limits.

I'm not busting your balls i'm just know saying in a few decades you'll be handing advise to a younger generation that will think you are crazy yourself.

It's your America and there isn't a second one. Think responsibly.

Then we need to make cigarettes and alcohol illegal. As well as fast food. And anything else that people abuse.

    Thanks, Dan.

Just found this little tidbit from a college study.

Marijuana users have 55% more industrial accidents than non-users and have been shown to have a 78% increase in absenteeism over non-users. Workers who tested positive for marijuana use had disciplinary problems at work 64% more often than workers who test negative for marijuana. Accident records from one study showed that up to 12% of non-fatally injured drivers and up to 16% of fatally injured drivers had marijuana in their bloodstream.

Alcoholics tend to function quite normally in the work environment and make it to work in the morning. Potheads become lethargic all the time and tend to not give a crap about anything. I'm not sure I see where legalizing this drug is really in the best interest of our country. Do you want your kids bus driver to be able to legally smoke marijuana every night? A 78% increase in absenteeism should speak volumes about the drug and its consequences.

and these people will be fired.

I know many, many high level people within large companies, doctors, lawyers, etc that are everyday smokers. Really. You would be absolutely shocked how many very successful people smoke on a daily basis.

My boss is one of them.

Agreed. Weed doesn't make people bad employees. Bad employees make bad employees.

Being high at work is another issue, which shouldn't/wouldn't be allowed. Just like being drunk at work would be a bad idea, so they say.

I'd like to see this "study", and the variables, sample size, etc. College study makes me think very little of it. Also, while I no longer use the drug (and haven't for a decade), I used it daily during high school, slept during class (boredom, not high), and still graduated salutatorian. Perhaps it's not cause and effect.

Guy I work with who is "Pro Pot" :D threw out his own tidbit: He estimated that 60% of the pop. smoke weed. How far off are those numbers in your mind? I told him he was crazy.... maybe not though...?

He is high, pun intended. 60% may have at some point in their life, but not on a regular basis. This isn't the NBA.
