Huge chance to take for a 22 year old too. That could go the other way as well. Tough choice to make for sure. If I was faced with millions of dollars at my door step (or whatever it would equate to) I'm not sure I'd take the chance of fading away in college and not having the same chance again. Strike while the iron is hot I think. Also go in with the idea that the original contract he signs won't be his last. Prove yourself as an NFL QB and increase your stock in the league instead of in college as a backup.
If that's what he's saying now then he is back-tracking. When he answered the question, which I watched on TV, the question was directly asked about his future in the NFL and he responded "I'm not ready for that level.". So it had nothing to do with getting his degree at the time, whether that's what he meant or if he is back-tracking, it was about the NFL. I personally think he shouold stay, but if he does enter, I hope the Browns get him.
I get what your saying but he will not be a first round pick. I imagine he would go thrid round or later. If he gets drafted mid thrid round thats probably a 3 million dollar contract. If he stays at OSU for 2 more yrs and becomes a mid first round pick that will get him a contract of around 10 million. Also the chances of being cut are higher the lower you are drafted so if he gets cut after his first contract without seeing much action in the NFL he may not get another chance. If he gets drafted in the first round that pretty much gauruntees he will see alot of playing time wich will help him stay in the league longer and make more money. Also if he stays 2 more yrs he can get his degree and find a job after the NFL if it goes south.
I see what you're saying. But I don't believe where you get drafted guarantees anything as far as being cut or playing time. You have to still prove yourself in camp. See Tom Brady 119th 6th round pick or Ryan leaf 2nd overall pick in the 1st round. It just gets you more money on first contract.
Cardale has been in Cleveland the past two days. Today he is at the Gin Academy and will announce his decesion at 3pm.
If he is drafted by the Browns to supplant Johnny Football, I am all for him going to the NFL. If that doesn't happen then I want him to go back to OSU. I know my opinion means nothing but it's wishful thinking. 3:00 eh...I can't wait.
10tv.com will live stream it. I say he goes no later than the end of the second round if he declares.
I think it will depend on his pro days and the combine. for such a small sample size of three games I would think third round but I say that and the bears will pick him at #7 in the first. LOL
If I were a GM I would not draft that guy. Just me. That being said if I were him and was faced with the QB drama at OSU, I would enter the draft. I say he goes no later than the top 75 picks or so.
Well he moved his decision from 3:00 to 4:00 so we have to wait a little longer. Normally I would be reserved to draft someone like him too, but with his size and his ability to remove bad plays or a losing score out of his head and perform at his level, he appears (so far) to have what it takes. I know that sounds crazy after just 3 games, but he seems to have that "it" factor. I could be wrong but I see much more in him than what people said about Johnny Manziel. He's not for just any NFL team, but teams like the Browns, Bucs, and Jets sure could use him at QB.
I hope for his sake if he does declare he does not end up in Cleveland. I hope he ends up with a good program who won't push him to the field right away. Give him a couple years behind a veteran.
Oregon's cheerleaders Oregon's offense Elliot from OSU. Those were the only reasons I wanted to watch this game. Only 2 of these were impressive.
Sitting behind a veteran for a year would be ideal, I just don't know if I see that happening, especially if he goes to one of the teams I mentioned. Browns fans can't draft coaches so the best thing we can hope for are decent players. I think he's better than Mariota and Winston.
Work 30 years making maybe $100,000 a year or collect $3,000,000 up front and have a chance at quite a bit more with the option of going back to college to finish the degree at anytime? I don't think he has a choice.
He is staying so it really doesn't matter but also think about the area he comes from. If and when he goes to the NFL he will have more then just himself to support. More often then not these guys from poor areas have plenty of people with their hands out. Now hopefully he will make more money in the NFL so the hit he will take from family and friends won't hurt as bad.
