Hey, no need for your nonsense analogies. No one is even arguing with you anymore. Like I said the previous time, you are right Jeff. After watching a lot of basketball last night, I REALLY hope UK can pull out a win against Washington to get a chance to match up against Mich St...I think both wins are probably unlikely, but I'd just like to see how they match up against IMO one of the best 3 teams in the nation. Terrence Jones is a beast for a freshman, he may even be near Jared Sullinger level, but I'm not convinced of that yet. Knight proved he needs to toughen up like many freshman, he got roughed around and couldn't deal with it very well. Duke was putting on a basketball clinic in the first half last night against Marquette.
Oh, I wasn't arguing, Trevor. Just sayin', I know how you guys feel. The analogy is pretty clear..... When someone's rockin' your world, there's imperfections you're willing to overlook. Call it "rose colored glasses". That sounds a lot better than admitting you sold your soul to the devil for basketball glory. (Trev...don't take anything I say too seriously. Just not a Teflon John fan) ............and, BTW.....how 'bout MSU, losing to an unranked team?
MSU shocked me and I am bummed out. UK pulled out an ugly sloppy win against a great Washington team though....talk experience all you want ESPN, talent often trumps. Knight and Jones are unreal scorers. I think Wall and Cousins were both better basketball players but at this point I already see better production to come from their replacements if that makes since. They aren't as big or atheletic or top 10 wow plays, but they flat out put the ball in the hoop a LOT. ESPN has been on Irvings nuts all week as the best PG in the game and the best freshman in the country. Jones has claim to that title rather easily IMO though. I am happy UK won and have a much easier match up in the finals now, but I was REALLY hoping to see them measure up to Mich St. Mich St is good, real good. I know Walker dropped 30 to beat them tonight, but they are final four worthy team and I was excited to see UK try to match up with them. Duke had a very impressive win tonight as well. I'd hate to be an opponent on their schedule this year, they are rolling.
I wouldn't say Washington is a "great" team. Good probably, but not great. They had been overrated the previous 2 seasons, and this year might not be different. UK's youngsters are impressive. Irving doesn't have to do as much for his team. Duke has plenty of upper classmen that have played a ton of minutes in the past. He is a very talented freshman. I could see a 30 point game or two out of Knight. That kid can really score when he wants to, especially if the jumper is going. MSU ALWAYS loses early in the year. They will also drop a game in the league to a team no one thinks they should lose to. Its just what they do. They also go to Final Fours, so we'll see.
I''m a Duke nut.... but i tell you who's really scary... UCONN. They're unranked and firing on all cylinders. Knocked off number 2 and are leading Kentucky by a ton late in the first half.
I'm pretty sure they're ineligible, though (UCONN). It's like watching the "before/after" bowl (UCONN and UK)......lol.
UCONN is ineligible? For how long? Why? What did they do? Must be recruiting violations. The last I heard they had imposed sanctions on themselves.... not by the NCAA. The NCAA hasn't done anything to them yet....have they?
They aren't...they slapped their own hand by reducing scholarships and cutting back on recruiting related things, the NCAA hasn't imposed anything yet and may not. Jeff just likes a good story to talk about, truth aside. Kemba Walker had his way with UK. Jones was a monster as well, and as soon as he stepped off the court the game turned into a landslide. Knight has a ways to go before he has quite got it. He is a scorer for sure, but his percentages were down, assists were nonexistent, and his left hand weakness was exposed. He should tighten the reigns in a few weeks.
I seriously thought they were ineligible. I assumed that was the reason they were unranked. I stand, corrected.
