You sound like Nick Saban talking... He likes to premake excuses just in case Bama only wins by a couple touchdowns, then wallop everyone as big as possible... Bama will be fine. Michigan... well I am still trying to figure out what they were thinking when they scheduled this one. $$$$$$s, I guess.
Yes you wallop Kent state pretty hard last year, looking at the other power houses in the SEC, makes me wonder why people think it's so great. Does anyone play offense in the SEC?
I usually pull for UNC but I like several college football teams....When it comes to basketball though, that is a different story...It is UNC all the way ...Basketball if definitely taken more serious around here b/c they have actually one championships and the rivalry between Duke and Carolina in 2nd to none....
First off, thanks for the compliment, comparing me to Saint Nick, or Lord saban...he goes by both If I remember correctly, you are a barner..but I wont hold that against you. i actually hunt off wire road and spend a fair amount of time around town during the season. As far as Saban, you are right, he does downplay everything, always has. As for my comments, they are simply facts, our 1st string back just had another surgery that has less than a 50% recovery rate for normal people, not 250 running backs who must stop and start all the time. Our 2nd, 3rd 4th string backs are exactly as I listed. Defense, look them up...several gone in the draft and a few more just gone. We faced the same thing in 2010, and lost a few games. We have Arkansas, play LSU at night in Baton Rouge, Michigan in texas first game of the year...so yes, while all the Gumps are out there beating their chests about how great we are I am simply being honest. I think there is no bigger fan than me, but i also understand the sport and what can happen week in and week out. I certainly hope we roll on, and I will attend a few games as always, but I do see us getting tripped up a time or two.
Directed at me? If so, I don't understand what you mean. I was actually at the kent state game last year, what the hell was I thinking driving 3+ hours to see that. Some friends of ours have tickets aginst the rail at the 30 so anytime we get them for free we go. I usually buy a game or 2, and get theirs from time to time. The live in birmingham, so they do not go to the lesser games. A little secret, I hate seeing Alabama loose so bad that I refuse to go to a big game, I would rather watch them on TV or hunt while my wife updates me. I almost lost it in 2009 when S carolina took us to the wire, thought that would be a pretty easy game. We picked the first pass off and took it to the house, after that the temp dropped 30 degrees and we froze, and almost lost.
Theres Hook, I never get involved in the football threads because I am at work. Pisses me off. Gonna have a hard time with you guys in Baton Rouge this year. I hear Mellengrabber is tearing it up.
I'm uber excited about the possibility of an actual QB in Baton Rouge this year. If Mettenberger lives up to the hype, I don't see anyone beating LSU this year.
I agree, your stable of backs is unbelievable. He is the key, and from everything I read on local boards he is the real deal. I saw him play at the dome when he was in highschool and signed with UGA...your defensive front is also stacked. If everything stays the same, and the mad hatter does combust you should win a ring. I want a Bama/anyone championship, but the fan in me tells me it will be LSU and USC, and I hope you tear Lane up.
