Okay... Was going to start the thread. Congrats to Michigan... they looked much better this week. LSU was also better. Nebraska... still ehhh! UCLA is going to have to be reckoned with if they continue to improve... may be able to topple USC... let's wait to see. Alabama was untested and unimpressive... they were obviously resting up and getting ready for Arkansas and evidently Arkansas was getting ready for Alabama because they certainly weren't ready this past weekend to play. Florida was much better but still has a lot of work to do. Mizzou... they experienced what I wrote about last week. The SEC is tough and you have to play 4 hard quarters every week or you'll lose. Same goes for Texas A&M. On to my Auburn Tigers... Raaallllppphhh. Worst coaching staff since Terry Bowden. The inability to tackle is a symptom of poor coaching/ineffective strength conditioning and poor motivation. The numerous penalties reflect poor discipline. Throwing interceptions up for grabs repeatedly is a sign of a clueless offensive coordinator. Confusion on defensive pass coverage is a sign the defensive coordinator is lacking as well. D- for the coaching staff. I also saw something else I did not like, the receiver's coach, stepped into a conversation between Cheese-dip and a receiver after he fair caught the ball at the 4 yard line and rescued the player from the head coach? That shows a serious breech in the team's leadership. No way Saban, Miles or Meyers would have let that happen. Cheese-dip was not out of control and the conversation was simply, "what were you thinking?" Congrats to Miss State, they are a solid team but there is no way they should have won that game on paper. They were simply better coached and better prepared.
WKU looked solid in their shut out vs Bama. Tight End played awesome, and they got to Mcarron all day long. They moved the chains with regularity if it wasn't for all the devastating fumbles. Look for them to beat UK Saturday. Bama by 3+ TDs at Arkansas. Auburn is in for a rough ride this season...already 0-2 and still have Arkansas, LSU, Bama, Georgia, and even Florida will likely best them. I see a losing season ahead. USC looked offensively awesome but defensively poor, they better perform on both sides to run at the championship game, Oregon and seemingly even UCLA won't roll over this season
Not accustomed to Auburn being a Cellar Dweller but you are correct... The "young team" excuse is getting really old. Rumors have already been swirling about Chizik's future. An 0-fer start isn't helping and many around here are predicting an upset by LA-Mon. The worse part is when a team appears hapless, recruiting really begins to suffer. I am kind of thinking we better get used to this for a few years... Maybe its just our turn in the barrell.
Come on Water is Warm (coming from a Kentucky resident lol). UK will be lucky to win 4 games this year
Very possible... Of course it is also possible that Arkansas just stinks and Miss State is better than we have given them credit for. One more week will tell... but right now I have a tendency to say you are probably correct. I still thought Michigan looked a lot better than they did in week 1. They may have played so bad in week 1 that they made Alabama look better than they really are. Nebraska's Taylor Martinez was the biggest disappointment of the weekend for me. He looked completely lost against UCLA. I am really digging Jim Mora... I wonder if he would consider coming to Auburn? UCLA is accustomed to losing.
Until USC gets a defense, Bama and LSU are the top 2 teams in college football. No one else is even really close, IMO
AL and AR will hopefully be interesting as AR should be hungry on the heels of the ULM loss and AL really hasn't had a testing yet this year. Michigan should soundly beat MA. And FL @ TN will hopefully be a good matchup. From wk 2, Florida State did not cover the 70 1/2pt over Savannah State, only managing to 'eek out' 55points before they got tired of trouncing Savannah St. Going into wk 3 as a 25pt favorite over Wake Forest, they will once more repeat with a win, but lose on the spread.
They did not lose the spread. The game was called in the 3rd quarter, therefore, the thread was mute. Nobody lost money on that game.
Muzzy...cheesdick has a loosing record for his career, and only his bought and paid for QB saved him for one year. He is not a good coach, and I was all over the local boards spouting it when he was hired. Of course Scam lit the world on fire and I took the heat, but now, he has lost control, and refuses to play any of that young five star talent sitting all over the sideline. Germ, I wish Michigan would get back on track, you were so much fun back in those days. Now, you give david mil a good run for his money Jowlston Fowler gone for the year for Bama, so we will see what we do. He was second on the depth chart with yeldon, and actually coming into his on as a full back in I formations with yeldon and lacy running behind him. Hooker, yes right now USC will get 60 hung on them by Oregon... Phillip, who are these Vols and how happy are you...man that hurt!
Rich Rod is out of control! It looks like it wasn't him after all... Final verdict, Michigan just sucks
I am not sure I know what 5 star talent that would be. Wasn't Frazier one of those guys? What I see is a defense that is where they are supposed to be most of the time but have such poor fundamentals that they can't finish. Bad angles to the ball, bad positions when tackling/covering, shoulder rolling instead of wrapping up runners, not using arms and hands to fend off blockers are all fundamental skills that are lacking. Missing reads, fumbling, throwing off the back foot, not throwing the ball away when no one is open are fundamental issues. They are doing very little well. All coaching issues.
I am pumped so far. Dooley finally has some depth. I've been saying it since the offseason should be an interesting year for the Vols.
It's Tennessee week for the Gators!! UF looked better again aTm. It was a good win for CWM, the players, and the program, but Gator fans aren't excited about calling a road win over an unranked team a big deal, but that's there there program is. To go in to College Station where everyone and their brother wants aTm to win, get smacked around in the first half, make adjustments, and dominate the second half (defensively) was cool to see. Going to Knoxville is still a scary game though. UT is better than they have been for a while, and this is probably the Vols best chance at beating UF for another 3-4 years. But seeing how UF responded at aTm is encouraging. I think UF beats Tennessee this week, 28-21. This game won't be decided until the 4th quarter in my opinion. Bray will get his, but like the last 7 years, UT just won't be able to run the ball effectively enough and Florida will force a couple turnovers late in the game. Gillislee will rush for 100+ and Driskel will have another good game. Offense, defense, special teams.. Florida just has better players. UF is going is pretty dinged up though. Ronald Powell was shut down for the season this week, Jelani Jenkins broke his thumb and is out 4 weeks, and Cody Riggs is out 4 weeks. Still, I think UF is deep enough on D to win. Edit: About A&M. How fun is Johnny Manziel going to be to watch the next 4 years? Dude is a player.
I have a feeling it's going to be one of the better games in recent history between the two. If UT wins, I don't think there's anyway they score 30+ points. The only way I see UT winning is if Gillislee isn't 100%, which I don't think he will be. An aggravated groin isn't something that just heals in a week. Or, if Driskel doesn't take care of the ball and throws a pick or two. Still, if UF can force a couple turnovers that will be a moot point. As good as UT's offense has looked this year, I don't think they're good enough to beat Florida's defense. For UT to win they'll need some help from Florida's offense. I also want to change my score.. to 27-21. Just because I want to see Caleb Sturgis nail a couple 50+ yard field goals, then make the tackle on the following kickoff.
