Controlled it is. Dominated would be a stretch, but admittedly the Gators didn't do much on O in the first half of that game. My orange and blue shades keep me from remembering they played 2 halves that day.
Arkansas is hot after Les Miles... Hooks dreams may be answered. He can go to Arkansas and the Tigers will start competing with Kentucky for the bottom of the conference.
LSU to Arkansas?? LMAO! You have got to be joking, correct? As for Kentucky, what does everyone think of the Mark Stoops hire? He has a great Defense going down there, and as far as Kentucky goes I think he is a great hire, and about as good as they can realistically expect. Hoping he can get the ball rolling up there to make them at least formidable in the East (finishing 3rd or 4th in their own division so all you guys can brag about them kicking *** )
I could not care less what he does... He seems crazy at times. Crazy dudes do crazy things. Arkansas will back up the Brinks truck to him. Will LSU match it? I think it makes no difference with KY. They sucked last year, 10 years ago and will still suck in the future. Maybe they should move to the MAC for football, or wait... They have enough doormats in that conference already.
I've seen the Miles to Arkansas rumors. If Miles did not leave for Michigan, there is no way he is leaving for freaking Arkansas.
I think it's a good hire, but like Scott said, I don't think it matters who they hire. They're not going to be but so good. I think he'll be able to win at UK, but probably with about the same consistency Rich Brooks did. 8-4 every 3-4 years is probably their ceiling.
The problem with KY is two fold. They have marginal high school football in KY for recruiting local kids and they are not a national recruiting program for football. They will never consistently win, ever. They just are not built to be able to compete year in and year out.
Agreed, I wasn't saying he comes in and wins the SEC....but if he can reproduce Rich Brooks run of yearly bowl eligibility and the occasional over accomplishing year like the year UK was top 10 and took down LSU.... what more could they ask for? They have the money, the fans, etc....they just will never be able to leapfrog programs such as Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama, A&M, LSU....they have a ceiling of 8-4 to 9-3....which would be great for their standards. I just thought it was a great hire for them...becoming respectable for a long run like a decade is how you change recruiting...and it has to start somewhere.
Picked this off a poster from an OSU board. Just reviewed schedules of the top-6 teams in the BCS. See below ("big wins" are those against BCS top-15 teams). Sure seems to me like they've got it wrong. Florida looks like a clear #2 with 4 wins over BCS top-15 teams. I'd have #'s 3-6 as K-State, Alabama, Oregon, then Georgia. Then again, Fla didn't win their own conference, but they sure seem to be the better team. BTW - I don't like any of these teams, so I'm trying to be as objective as I can! 1. Notre Dame: Big wins = Stanford, Oklahoma Big loss = none Also notable – played (and beat) 9 bowl-qualified teams; all three non-bowl opponents were from BCS conferences; beat 2 teams from BCS top-15 Should be embarrassed by – nothing 2. Alabama: Big wins = LSU Big loss = Texas A&M (to a freshman QB) Also notable – played 6 bowl-qualified teams Should be embarrassed by – scheduling Western Carolina (a D1AA team with a 1-10 record) and Florida Atlantic 3. Georgia: Big wins = Florida Big loss = S. Carolina Also notable – played only 5 bowl-qualified teams (will drop to 4 if Ga Tech loses ACC champ game, and falls to a losing record) Should be embarrassed by – scheduling Buffalo, Florida Atlantic, and 1AA Georgia Southern 4. Florida: Big wins = LSU, Texas A&M, South Carolina, & Florida State Big loss = Georgia Also notable – played 8 bowl-qualified teams; beat 4 teams from BCS top-15 Should be embarrassed by – scheduling Jacksonville State 5. Oregon: Big wins = none Big loss = Stanford Also notable – played 7 bowl-qualified teams Should be embarrassed by – scheduling Arkansas State and Tennessee Tech 6. Kansas State: Big wins = Oklahoma Big loss = Baylor Also notable – played (and beat) 6 bowl-qualified teams; may increase to as many as 9 (WVU, Iowa St., and Baylor may yet qualify) Should be embarrassed by – blowout loss to unranked Baylor; scheduling Missouri State and North Texas
That poster would love RPI in basketball then....as his one sided view ONLY looks at your record and the record of those you played. Margin of victory, or statistical performance on the field meaning nothing. Interesting breakdown though for sure.
