x2. Ohio State may have earned the right with going undefeated but their performance on the field against some of the sub par teams was terrible.
Can't argue with that... It was a season of growing for that team. They improved throughout the year. The first half or so of the year they would show flashes of being unstoppable... Then show flashes of a dumpster fire on defense. The O was good all year for the most part outside of the first quarter and a stretch here and there. It was the D that had growing pains. They had some games that were not that good against some of the weaker teams, but on the other hand, they had good or decent games against the better teams they played like Nebraska, Penn State, Wisconsin and Michigan.
No. I think they have the talent to beat any team on any given day but cannot say I think they are top two. In two more years we won't have to have these hypothetical convos.. The playoff will settle it on the field. I do not see any dominate teams this year. ND has a great record but I do not think they are that great of a team compared to the top teams of the past few years, they are very beatable. I am not drinking the Georgia kool aid. Bama is not the Bama of the past few seasons and Florida has a nice record but again, they don't look like that good of a team when you watch them. I thought Oregon was going to win it this year until they played Stanford. The SEC is so great this year a middle of the pack Big 12 team came in and kicked ***. Texas frikin A&M... Not Texas, not Oklahoma.... again Texas A&M. Savor on that for a moment... There just isnt a dominate program this year and that would make a playoff all the better this season, but makes a joke out of the current system.
Agree. It seemed Ohio State played to the other teams potential. What I mean Is they played ok against ok teams and great against good teams. If there was one team I wouldn't want to play right now that would be Stanford.
I hope Bama and Saban underestimate Georgia like a lot of folks are doing. The South Carolina game was embarassing and the following week was rough, then Williams lit a fire under the defense's *** and now it looks like the offense is back to it's old self as well. I think this SEC championship is going to be an exciting game....if not, well I will eat my words and yell at Richt some more, ha!
Let's not forget that the Buckeyes were supposed to get waxed by an undefeated, untouchable and defending national champion Miami team 10 years ago; a team that hadn't been challenged in 2 friggin years. Nobody gave the Bucks a chance back then either.... but they won 14 games that year; a record at that time. And yes, the entire season wasn't "pretty", but the end result most definitely was. Don't fool yourself guys. Hate all you want, but of course they'd be "in". We all know that. And against ND, my $ would be on tOSU. Against Bama, not so much.. but I definitely wouldn't call it a blow out. Just as this is not the '02 Buckeyes, Bama is not the same team they were last year. I'd be more nervous playing A&M or Florida, than anybody else at this point in time. LSU?? lol... pshhhh. Bring that on
-8 points in only 2 losses... 3 to FLA in their first SEC game.... 5 to LSU in mid-season. With a FRESHMAN QB?? uhhh, yeah that's called kickin ***. The SEC has 3 true contenders every year. Perhaps A&M will make it 4.
They still finished 5th. Never in my life have I heard a 5th place finish being called "kicking ***". And that freshman QB is the best player in the country.
Well considering all the SECers were claiming they would go winless in league play, I'd say what they did was kick ***. What would you call it?
Those are the retards. And no one would have predicted Manziel going off like he did. And I would call finishing 5th in the SEC as "respectable".
Fact is they out performed what every single one of the SEC homers said they would. To me that's kicking ***, down play it however you want by saying they finishing 5th. They were 6-2 in league play.
I know they outperformed what everyone, not just SEC homers, said they would. And that is because no one predicted Manziel having the year he did. Do you not think that they would have won the Big 12 this year?
I do not know. They are a team with flaws. So one player went 6-2, it wasn't the whole team? The Big 12 always has top flight college QB's. This is no different, nor am I surprised by A&M having a good QB..
See Cam Newton at Auburn. In college, one dominant player, especially the QB, can be the difference. And don't try to tell me that you are not surprised about Manziel having the season he did. He is about to win the Heisman as a RS Freshman.
Difference between the Auburn year and A&M is A&M has a much more complete team. Manziel isn't the only reason they had success this year. It appears to me you only want to discredit their season rather than admit they had a good year.
I'll readily admit that they had a great year. I'm not going to admit that they came in and "kicked ***" in the SEC though.
