If the Buckeyes were bowl eligible AND they won the B1G championship game, would they be playing in the BCS title game? Go
Yes. They are in no way as good as Georgia Florida or Bama....but they would be in ahead of all 3. tOSU factor, B1G champ factor, and ready to see something new factor (no SEC team in the game). Whoever wins UGA vs Bama will win by a few TDs against ND IMO.
Devil's advocate------- AP only has them ranked at #4. Would they be higher if anyone knew they could play? Has OSU shown anything this year impressive other than their record?
Also, 1 loss SEC teams typically get in. I think OSU would get in but only by a fraction. I guess it also would depend on how the winning team of the SEC championship looks.
I agree with this. And to answer your question, no, they haven't shown anything impressive other than their record. "Staying together and fighting through adversity a midst the sanctions !!!!" Doesn't count. Who is their best win? Nebraska? Michigan? Both very average B1G teams in a year that the conference was horrible.
This past weekend was the first game I've seen of tOSU, and it wasn't that pretty. IF is a huge word... With that said, i think IF they were eligible and they won the B1G championship game next week. They would be in the NC game. Next question...a conference that doesn't have a conference championship, or a team without a conference, do they have an advantage by not having to play the extra conference championship game?
Yeah I have a few real close friends who have been crowing all year about tOSU...the team who struggled mightily with UAB and who's best win is Michigan which Bama toyed with like a rag doll to kick off the season. When talking impressive resumes, Florida takes the cake. Loss to BCS #3 Georgia, Wins against BCS #7 LSU, #9 T A&M, #10 FL St, #12 USCjr.... Florida will make a BCS bowl. guaranteed at this point, leaving out all other SEC schools minus the conference Champ.
If tOSU was undefeated and bowl eligible along with ND, they would be in the BCS NC game. The Bama/UGA winner would be out of luck.
I don't know if OSU would make the title game if there were eligible. There record is impressive, but their strength of schedule is where i think they fall a little back of Bama and GA. just my thoughts.. as a Michigan fan
I'm not talking about the quality of the game. I mean the quality of the teams. LSU and Bama were clearly the 2 best teams last year.
Typical Michigan man... No clue what they are talking about! lol Alabama's, SOS (strength of schedule) -47, Georgia's SOS-51, and The Ohio State University's SOS-52, they each played about the same strength of schedule, but only the Buckeyes won them all. Of course they would be in the championship game with Notre Dame, anyone thinking other wise is only kidding themselves.
