When using cameras in the cold weather before bringing them into a warm house or any warm environment place the cam in a plastic bag and close it up so no air gets in. Then bring it in to the warm house and let it warm up for an hour in the closed bag before opening the bag. This prevents condensation build up on the electronics which will in time damage the cam.

Good tip, Smokey, never heard that one before but I'm fairly new to trail cams (a little over a year) and did not know that.

what about putting rice in the bag too? Wife did that with her water logged cell phone and it came back.

You should not need the rice in the bag if the trailcam is sealed well enough. Just a precaution to prevent condensation from creeping in. This tip is for all cameras, video and DSLR especially.

I have used desiccant in my homebrew but not my store bought cams. The moisture build up will be too much for the desiccant to handle though when bringing in from the cold. They are good while cam is on the tree.

Good advice! I never bring mine in unless something is wrong.
