Hey guys, just have a pretty simple question. This is my first year of running a handfull of trail cameras. We have some pretty darn cold weather moving in next week and I was wondering if you guys are leaving your cameras out in the bitter cold or bringing them in? Is there a certain temp that you like to go by? Just wondering your thoughts and methods.

I run mine during bitter cold. It will be hard on the batteries but the cameras dont seem to have any problems.

I use mine for coyote baiting, last night it got down to about 12 degrees, worked fine. Drains batteries like a &!^(# though.

I'm putting my Reconyx out Saturday and next weeks temps are barely going to get out of the teens....battery life with standard batteries will be cut in half but a good set of lithiums will help with that.

Also will help beef up the price tag on batteries. I left my moultrie d-50 out all last winter brought it back home at the end of Jan. When I went to put the camera back out this later summer, early fall the flash burnt out. So , I guess it depends on the camera.

I had a set of batteries blow up inside my camera last year, and destroyed the camera. I won't be leaving mine out under 15-20 degrees probably

These photos were taken with my Leaf River. Temp was -34. Batteries still lasted a month. The Camera doesn't like it around freezing temps (38-25) but works good on either side.

Last year my Trophy cam took some good night video in -20 temps, but I only had it out the one night.

Like Fitz I've had camera's out In -30 below temps here In Minnesota. My No Flash Cuddebacks don't work worth a crap In the cold weather but my 2 Reconyx's work the same as If It was 60 degree's out. I too use Lithium rechargeable battery's In my Reconyx's and they'll last the whole time out without changing them. I usually leave my trail cams out till February or so. 3 months of below freezing temps.

I'm running those Tascos I bought this year.... right now to do a little inventory on what bucks made it. So far they are working fine in bitter cold, rain, snow, sleet you name it.. The only trouble I have had is there is a little shelf were the lense sets and snow will build up on it.
