I have noticed with my self just shooting in the back yard that if I have coffee before, my group sized almost always double. I can't seem to keep the pin still. I was wondering if anyone else has that same experience? I now try to stay away from anything caffeinated before I head out to hunt because I don't want to make the shot any harder then it already is. I also have started seeing the Five Hour Energy shots for hunters. I don't think I could hit the broadside of the barn, or sit still after I drank one of those.
I will admit that after coffee or 5 hour energy I am a bit jittery. But with the five hour energy I usually will only drink half when in the stand when I need it. It helps warm me up a little and keeps me sharp but I don't take them all that often. Only when I've had little sleep. If I had 7 to 8 hours I'm usually fine without it.
Yep, I'm with you. I shot the other morning after drinking "some" coffee and couldn't hit my *** with both hands. I shot later that afternoon and shot well. I'm still drinking my coffee though
too each his own. My groups get bigger after my 3rd beer. So I try to keep THAT to a minimum before heading to the stand. Coffee, on the other hand, gets rid of the jitters for me.
Caffeine doesn't do that to me at all. But think about this.....if your groups are "double" when you drink coffee due to an accelerated heart rate or whatever, your shot accuracy is going to be very similar or even worse when you are stressed when shooting at an animal. I wouldnt worry about it all and would see it is as a good thing.
