End the reign of Progressive terror - hit them in the only place they are vulnerable - state coffers.
I feel bad for the little people, but until they vote these Commies out then they will reap what they sow. Colorado regularly makes over $20million/yr on out of state hunter/fisher "tourism."

I've never hunted there, but I ski every year. Every year. I usually alternate between Deer Valley (Utah) and Breckenridge (CO.) No longer - Wyoming is getting my money this year.

As far as gear goes. Make sure you have good boots, a camel back, decent binocs, and back up calls. If it's a DIY hunt make sure you practice your calling. I watched a guy scare a nice bull off with some horrific cow calling. Take plenty of scent killer. Colorado is absolutely awesome for elk hunting. First time was last year and liked it so much I'm going back. I had a lot of activity in the high meadows that faced south. Just food for thought.

Hammer.-thanks for tip. Its is a diy hunt. My uncle isn't hunting. He goes just to call. He has a passion for it and is pretty skilled at it.

Good luck on the hunt. I'm heading out there for the first time this year too. Can't wait.

Remember. No lighted nocks or lighted peeps allowed in CO:(
Nothing electric can be attached to your bow.

Thank the traditional hunters lobbyist for that.

Look for ridges along north facing dark timber. Elk use them like highways and they can be deadly silent walking through it, it's incredibly impressive. Elk come out into the meadows at dusk to feed so study your topo maps hard and find that honey hole. Good luck!

I still don't understand the lighted nock rule either. I am jealous of all you guys that get to shoot them, they look awesome.

I have never hunted CO. I live and hunt in Utah. This year water is a little tight so we watch wallows that there using. Once you bow hunt elk its addicting. Good luck

Get in shape. The high country can zap you pretty quick. Less oxygen to suck down those bursting lungs. Try to get where your going to hunt a couple of days early to get acclimatized. Take it easy the first couple of days and you'll fare much better. Good luck.
