Clunker math

    This is the point I was going to make. The math was unfair. If those cars stay on the road for 10 years then we break even and reduce our fuel intake.

    What makes it unfair is the fact that Obama has not made good on his promise with the dealerships. These are the guys that took it in the arse on this one.

    How can that be? All those clunkers were to be disbled by pouring something (antifreeze ?) in the crankcase.
    And someone added something about driving 12,000 miles a year. When you lease a vehical does it still hinge around that 12,000 mile a year drive or have they gone to 15,000 now? And arn't new car warrenty's still 12,000 mi/36 month or 50/5 ?

    Rick, you are right. Those cars were immediately disabled and crushed for scrap.

    As far as leases.... most only give you 10,000 a year and never over 12,000, but the U.S. average they give you for Kelly Blue Book is 15,000 a year.
