I only saw the first quarter. The media sure was in LOVE with him today. Toted him as the only defensive player who will ever win the Heisman. What was Chuck Woodson....chopped liver? Sent from my Samsung Galaxy s4
Like Siman only saw the first quarter but he was winded a lot. Funny though they kept bringing up how he's supposedly in the best shape of his career.
I watched until the lightning delay, it appeared something wasn't right with him tonight. Whether he had a bug or something I don't know, but it wasn't a good game for him. In fact SC's whole defense looked suspect. UNC just couldn't get out of their own way.
You did see the dirty chop block at the knees the UNC lineman through that tweaked his knee correct? He definitely had an off game, but to say you are not impressed with a player after one game in which they didn't even perform all that bad in...means you either can't watch football objectively, or you have a reason to not like that player. I am going with the latter. Will still end the season as the best defensive player of the year...he won't win heisman... he wont be the best ever, or even the past 5 years... But he is FAR from being a scrub as so many are implying after one game.
Game 1 + the August humidity down south=a player who relies on speed rushes hurting conditioning wise. I don't care who you are....Game 1 in football is one heck of a time for players who rely on speed.
Not impressed either...... Conditioning, stomach bug, problem with girlfriend, etc... doesn't matter IMO. Lack of effort and lack of attitude is what stood out to me.
He made a great play, because somone missed a blocking assignment, in fact watching the almight SEC play last night was not that great. Ole Miss and Vandy cannot stop diddle. SC put up 30 points on NC, who could run up and down on SC defense. Like buckeye said NC kept shooting themselves in the foot.
You mean Clowney didn't have 5 sacks and 2 fumbles? Not impressed. Overrated. Not going to be drafted. Devin Gardner for Heisman!
You do realize this is what happens when the nation watches the opening game of the most hyped college player since Tebow and he is no more of a factor than anyone else on their d-line. He half assed a lot of plays and took a number of others off altogether. All of the ESPN talking pumping their brand and everyone other than you I guess expected a better performance from "the best player in the country and first pick of the draft" than a sloppy half hearted effort against an unranked team. I do not and have no reason to dislike him. Just let down I let ESPN talk me into expecting more.
What I found quite funny was on the ticker they were sure to list he had 3 qb hurries though. Never noticed hurries listed for anyone else before.
Later on one of the announcers could tell he was winded and was say how he could be a great player if he put in the work and didn't take plays of during practice and the games. So they see it but they still have to talk about how good he could be if he doesn't slack.
The buzz in non-SEC land is what most are posting here about Clowney. Will see what he does next week
Watch any lineman the way we are and analysts are for every single play of a game and you'll begin to see nearly all of them take plays off at times. I mean shoot he took 70 snaps last night in that game, double what he'll do at the professional level due to rotation of lineman most teams utilize which colleges either choose not to or lack the ability to. He's still a top 5 pick and if I was a coach in the NFL I would pray all other teams are dillusional and slight him or look down on him as a "player who takes plays off".
I have a hard time seeing a repeat performance next week. I bet he comes out swinging and makes an impact.
You guys are making way too much of 1 game...first of the year no less The TV cameras will be focusing on him more than any defensive player in the country so every thing he does will be scrutinized. A player of his caliber also makes an impact on the game even if he is not the one making the play due to the attention he attracts.
