I haven't been able to shoot at all since January due to shoulder surgery. The doc gave me the OK to shoot now so I'm looking forward to getting back to it.

Closing day was January 1st for us. Well, most of us. I never stopped hunting for new signs of deer in my woods. I planted a summer food plot this year and have my moneral station is running stong. Shooting lanes are cut at one stand location. I have four more to go. I narrowed down from 8 spots and still may end up hunting them. It was really hard to choose.
I stopped shooting for three weeks due to final exams at school but, have started back. Just finished slinging 100+ shots about 20 min ago. I try to shoot 200-500 shots a week. I usually hit the 300 mark on average.I am about to transition from ground target bag to elivated 3D in the next week or two.
I am also going to try my hand at a 3D tournament in June. Here is the link if anyone else may be interested.

I've been focusing on scouting and setting up stand sites. I'll shoot more towards fall. Hopefully my shoulder will be in better shape than it is now.

Hey Dawg007, thats a nice looking target you made. What type of foam did you use and is it layered?

It sure Is frustrating tdk! Specially when It's others actions (low percentage shots) that causes disappointment and hard work thrown out the window. Unfortunately It will never change with some and In other cases It's just how hunting goes at times. I can understand the later part but not the 1st part of It.

I have been shooting the bow 2-3 nights a week. I have most all my stands tweaked, about 3 to go. Now its time to keep shooting and let the trail cameras do the work!!

Lately I have been shooting alot after work, getting some broadheads tuned in for my August black bear hunt, and have my food plots planted and coming up very good.

What I haven't done yet is hang stands. I am going to be kicking myself for this in a few weeks when I'm sweating to death and getting mauled by the mosqitoes. I have scouted and know where the stands are going, but just haven't found the time to do it yet. Some day I'll learn, some day.........................

All in all though, trailcams are looking good and I'm feeling confident going into the season.

The heat, ticks, and mosquitoes sound like fun! ;0 I've never had the issue with hanging stans b/c the public land place I hunt does not allow them. Just a climber for me.

Like I said, one day I'll learn. haha

Your living the good life with your climber and public land. That doesn't sound bad at all when I'm thinking about having a couple pints of blood sucked out of me.

The mosquitoes are in full force too with all the rain and standing water we have around here.

I haven't even found the land I'll possibly be hunting yet.

The new bow is looking all sorts of pretty in its new case.. I suppose I should get on that.

The problem is.. I don't have the time. Really. I don't.

Great point Brett. I shoot my bow year round to try and stay as sharp as possible. Some guys I hunt with though do not. So get out there and shoot!

Shooting a bow is what got me into bow hunting. Not just to have two more months to hunt and extra hunting days on Sunday. I shot my brothers and was hooked. I can't get enough shooting, reading about and this site. lol Needless to say I shoot often and year round. In doing so I stay prepaired for the season.
