Just curious as to how many people use a climber in comparsion to a fixed postion hang-on or ladder stand etc.

I personally use my climber 90 % of the time as I only have 1 ladder stand an looking into a hang-on sometime in the near future.

I use my climber almost everytime that I hunt. I did just get a two-man ladder that I will set up to use when my 7 year old comes out to hunt with me.

In the last 5 seasons, I climb an average of 7-10 sits or roughly 10% of my time in the woods. This season, with new ground, that number will go up.

I used to hunt 100% from a climber. then I tried the sticks & a hangon route, sparingly at first for a couple years, but then last year I hunted exclusively that way. Now that I have a system down, its pretty easy to get up & down the tree, faster than in my climber.

I have a climber that I love but don't use very often. With my wife being my hunting partner I stick with 17 ft ladder stands :)

I hunt almost exclusively with a sling. I am very mobile and light weight that way. I have many many spots and I can hunt them all with just one stand. I never have to worry about my stand getting stolen.

Its a pretty even split for me between my Summit climber and my LW sticks and stand.

I climb every time I hunt from a tree stand ... sometimes with a climber, sometimes with my sticks and sometimes a ladder ;)

The question from the OP is which form of stand do you use most often? Mine is an even split. ;)

Stand and sticks for me. I hunted out of a climber last year, but prefer stand / sticks.

I haven't hunted off the ground since 2008.

I use ladder stands mostly due to I have 3 already. I have one hang on and would much rather hunt it than the ladder stands. Just feel more comfortable in it over the ladders for some reason.

My definite preference is my sticks and hang on. However, if I want to try something out I'll get the climber out. Since I live on the property I hunt, I typically go out and set it up in the dark so that all I have to do is come out and climb.
To answer your question this year my plan is about an 80 / 20 with hang ons dominating.

I like my LW stand w/sticks I just need to get better at using them.

climbers make a lot of noise on our FL pines. Ladder stands our great but once your busted????

I consider my LW stand/sticks a fixed hang-on. Most of my stands are hung prior to the season and stay there for the duration. However I usually keep 1-2 stands w/sticks around in case I want to move in somewhere on a whim.

60% fixed hang on that was set prior to the hunt.
40% out of my Lone Wolf and LW sticks.
