I love my Ol Man climber with the net seat. It also has a gun rest that you can flip over and use as a foot rest for bow hunting.
I have one of these also. I have the vision climber. I can connect this to the tree and climb in total darkness without a lite. The quietest stand out there period. Not as comfortable as the summit viper but pretty good. Sent from my SM-T537V using Tapatalk
I have a summit razor. Front bar flips down out of the way for shooting, but you can use it to climb. It's a good set up.
The sit and climb, in my opinion, has one major flaw. The "sit bar". After reaching your desired night height, you have to fold the sit bar down around your ankles and step backwards with each foot. I'd feel very uncomfortable doing this in the dark. Another +1 for the viper sd.
Depends how you want to hunt. If you want comfort or light weight for long walks. I have used summits and they are nice for shorther walks in. They are comfortable but rather bulky and noisy compared to a lone wolf. I like to walk in far and be quiet. So for me the lone wolf hand climber fits my style of hunting. Many complain they are not comfortable but for me I can sit all day in them. My hunting partners prefer the summits for comfort. I am 6'5" and the lone wolf just works better for me. I much prefer the cast aluminum over the summit base. Quiet and better IMO. I would definitely recommend trying a few if you can. Much like your bow not a one fit solution. Cheers
I've used a Summit Viper for about 10 years and like it for ease of use and comfort. I hate that it rattles constantly walking in and out and the metal hooks on the elastic seat bands drive me nuts. I've covered them with various things like tape and liquid grip but there always seems to be a buckle on my pack clicking against the frame or the stand itself finds a way to move and rattle. I often hike over a mile to my area and while it starts out silent, it is usually rattling before I get where I'm going. Love the stand but had the rattles.
I wrap my HSS tree strap around the stand so there is no metal touching. It works about every time. Sometimes it wiggles loose, but rarely.
I use third hand stabilizer straps to tighten up my stand when I pack it in. Rarely get any noise out of it.
I bought an API Bowhunter and Summit Open Shot at the same time knowing I would return one. They were the exact same price and I kept the API. I don't like a bar in front but it's super easy to climb and light. The little accessory bag has my hoist line for my bow and my HSS tree strap in it, I have a Hooyman saw strapped to it and Thirdhand straps and Thirdhand bowholder and my shoulder straps and it comes it at a touch over 23#.
I have been hunting out of a Tree Lounge for 30 years. There is no telling how many hours I have slept in that thing. I have been up in others and like bows its a personal preface. Go to a place where you can try one or find a friend and try theirs. Spend coin for a good stand and keep away from China junk.
I also use Summit Razor, added third hand stabilizer straps and love it! I rarely put the front bar down, and haven't had any issues with my bow hitting it. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
No replacement for a 2-part tree stands for ultimate hunting safety and comfort. Right? I'm currently using the Summit Titan SD climbing tree stand from Amazon. No doubt a great value for money!
