Do you use a climbing strap every time you climb or decend a tree?I would like to say that I do but I don't
I use the three point hold system at all times but thats not really enough.I do have the linesmane strap but you know I can get up there faster with out it, I wont fall if I'm carefull. This year I will be wareing it because I wiil
be teach a new hunter about setups ,stand placement, and most importantly saftey.Three years ago I feell out of my stand,IT was raining cats and dogs no rain gear on,I really neededto get out of the tree,It was raining so hard and windy the tree I was setting was swaying back and forth about two ta three feet.Started glimbing down foot slipped
on second step as I was falling through the air I managed turn around and land on my hands knees, only proplem was
I landed on my forehead and my right foot.I layed there for about a minute half knockedout with the rain pouring
down on me.I finally stood up and tried to walk but went right back to the ground again,my foot hurt like hell and
was startingto swell.i finnally got up and draged my ass across the wet blowed field to my truck.I had a goose egg
on my head, sprained footand ankle and missed two days of work all because I didn't use my saftey strap on the way down.:bash:

I wonder how many guys have said,"I won't fall if I'm careful"? No one intends to be careless.
I wear a harness and use a lifeline with a prussic knot. It doesn't slow me down and if it did whats a couple of minutes in the big picture? I'd rather lose a couple of minutes than my life.

Well put Tx, I always wear a harness when going up and down while setting my stand. No reason not to.

I should but I dont. And yes I have fell(a couple times). I never said I was smart. What is a good one to use and how do you get them around steps and limbs?

g the first time I go up a tree I use a climbing belt as well as the lanyard strap the attaches my harness to the tree. I don't attach the lanyard to the tree unless I have to remove my belt to move it around a limb. Once I have my stand,(lock-on) permanently affixed to the tree I tie on a rope and use a prussic knot to ascend and descend. If using a climber I just use my harness and lanyard.

How many guys will you have to hear about being seriously injured or killed before before you decide to wear one one? Its just not worth the risk guys.

I haven't worn anything while climbing in my Viper, but would wear that (pain in the rear) harness that came with it. I really need to use the climbing strap this year.

I attach my harness to my climber as I move up and down the tree.
