I'm in the same boat as you. I'll be buying a climber soon. I looked and asked lots of questions here concerning the Summit Viper.

I have choose the Ol' Man AlumnaLite CTS Climbing Stand. I decided to go with this stand because it has some features that are more important to me. Summit Viper's are nice, but I feel this Ol' Man is a better all around choice for me.

Please. Regardless of what stand you choose. Always wear your climbing harness while climbing, setting and desending the tree.

That ol' man stand does look pretty apealing, little high on the price side but ill add it to the list.

I've seen them around the net for about $250 and free shipping.

I think so many people overlook the possibilities with the Summit Razor. I love having a bar to sit on while I ascend/descend a tree but hate having it there once I'm at the desired height. The Razor solves both of those problems because the bar can swing under the seat and out of the way once you get up to your desired height. It only takes seconds to do it too!

Have a ol man vision and a supermag (used to be called buckshot bigshot before by-out).Love them both but you really need to be careful of tree size with the ol man because cable that goes around the tree will pinch in on you. Web sight for supermag is www.supermagstands.com take a look for yourself any questions fell free to ask. Hope this helps a little.

I just have the steel Ol Man, it's heavier than the CTS but I assume the comfort and functions are the same. I have no complaints. That stand you got Iowa looks sweet.

Don't limit yourself. You are young and a good investment will likely carry you through many many years. Spend the extra few bucks and get a Lone Wolf!

yes one thing I have figured out with stands is try to buy the best, thats why I use lone wolf 90% of the time because of their durability year after year and their customer service for maintaining hardware on their stands for years too come!

I just ordered a hang-on stand directly from Lone Wolf and honestly I'm mixed on their customer service. I had some good email communication with a sales rep, but the stuff I was told has not happened. So the verdict is out for me with Lone Wolf. Maybe it'll all work out and I'll be happy, but I'm far from it at this point.

Myself and all my buddies own a Summit climber...I highly recommend.
Most buddies have the tricked out versions...I always like to keep things simple, I've had the Bushmaster plain model for over 10 years...just love it. Even the plain flat seat is suprisingly comfortable and all day sits are no problem.

    Good Luck!

I would suggest the Summit Goliath. I'm not a big guy but I love having the extra room. I'm in this stand about 95% of the time during the season.

Anyone know what the absolute lightest climber on the market is(rated for at least 250 lbs)?

Lightest I have found is 12.5 just wondering if there are any lighter.

I would look at ol man & treewalkers.
Not cheap, but IMO 2 of the best lines of climbers out there. And they have very light models.

I may be only seventeen, but i don't think im done with spending a week and a half pay on a treestand yet. I wand something nice and comfortable but not something top of the line. I've been looking real hard into the Realtree Outfitter Series Bushmaster Treestand made by summit. It has all the features that i need and is one of the lowest priced.
