Climber for public land. Pack in pack out. Hang on for private land.

I have hunted out of all of them, but i prefer my hang on's when on my hunting grounds. Ladder stands are nice, but i dont like a ladder stretching out from the tree even with cover at the base. Plus, imo they are pain to set up in thick tree cover. In some instances you have to cut your under cover to make room for the ladder. Climbers are great for trying out a new spot with out having to move a whole set-up. But i dont like all the noise that can come with them when trying to climb up in a new tree. I really dont use my climber that much do to the fact that i dont hunt public land at all where i live (way too many idiots :bash:) and if i go to a friends trac of land, i usually just sit in one of their stands.

I use all 3 methods, but prefer the climber most. I use a couple of Summitt climbers(Cobra, Razor).Over the years I have developed a system for using the climbers.I have every thing I may need organized and attached to the tree, within easy reach.Every thing fits in a backpack, that I attach to the climber for transport. Sure it adds a bit more weight to the stand, but worth the effort. I am mostly an all day stand hunter. And I am most comfortabe in a climber.

I've used them all. Ladder stands seem to be the most secure although a sturdy hangon can be hard to beat. As for the climber, I will use sometimes. I have a tree lounge and as you can imagine, it's heavy, hard to set up and loud so I usually just leave it on the tree when I can so I don't have to pack it out all the time. The only thing I like about it is it is one of the most comfortable stands out there but it sucks when it comes to everything else. I will be replacing it soon for a Summit.

Utilize them all if you can, each one has it's time and place.

I use all three also, like the climber the best because it's faster than putting up a lock on and you can hunt a new tree everytime if you want to. The climbers are also more comfortable and if you buy one go ahead and get the foot rest if your spending long hours in it.

Use them all, the place I'm hunting dictates which kind of stand I'm using.

lone wolf portable tree stands for me, I love their lite hang on stands with climbing sticks. It's amazing what trees you can get up into with these sticks. These stands are super strong, quiet and reliable year after year!

I like hang ons the most, its nice to be able to be quit when going up and down a tree and if you need to move them it isn't much effort. My climber is pretty noisy so its like sounding off in the dark when I arrive at my tree plus you have to haul them in and out with you. The joys of hunting public land is the carry in and carry out. I also like ladder stands. I had a climber and a trail cam stolen from me once on public land and was also contacted by the DNR to remove a hang on. So it's a bit of a bummer but 95% of my hunting is done with a climber. This season I plan on using a ground blind too but that will be put up and take down daily as well.

so far i think my climber is much safer and easier to put up.i bought a hangon to put up behind my house so i didnt have to lug my climber out every night.im glad i didnt buy an expensive one.what an un safe piece of crap! oh and step placement to get in and out of the stand safely is critical but they dont tell you that in the instructions.

i hunt on my land so ladder is the way to go for me. might try out a hanger in a few years possibly

plus, my woods don't work well for climbers, they're mostly oaks with lowhanging branches so i would have to go thru every tree with a brush saw before i could use it

climber or tree saddle/lw sticks for public, and hang ons for private. I will never buy another ladder stand, They are such a pain to move and set up by yourself.

For me, I prefer hang ons. I always take the seats right off because I like to stay on my toes. I can see where a hanger would be pretty tough for those that aren't in good physical condition though! Jm2c.

You have to love the ease of getting in and out of a ladder, but as far as bowhunting goes I think a climber is crucial. You can adjust your spot on the fly to accomadate wind/changing deer patterns and man are they the most comfortable by a LONG shot.

I like to use hanging stands and most of the time I try and use a tree that has multiple limbs coming out of the trunk.

Ive used all three and just in the past two years started using hangons more mainly because they are less noticable up in the tree and are pretty easy to put up. But climbers are the way to go if you need to be mobile. They are just too noisy for me or maybe I need to get a different one I have the summit viper right now.

Ladder stands just don't work for me unless I stand on the seat...
Too visible and the sillouette(sp) is wrong ie. not natural...
I respect the animal I hunt to much and know better...
    we learn by doing....
    I've done that.:busted:
I am fortunate for we have multiple hang ons for different wind\weather conditions and
that is therefore what we do....
everyone is a little different is'nt that Cool!!!
    How God Did That!
    He is the Man!
    Climber Public Land
    Hang on Private Land
Ladder\Gun Stands Stupid in my opinion....
We have a few but I will only hunt standing the whole time on seat.

I hunt almost exclusively out of my summit viper, I just bought a few bucksteps so now if needed I can get up a crooked tree and use the climber as a hang on. I love the comfort, mobility, and once you've used it enough they're quite quiet. I have used ladder stands but they always seem to make a lot of noise when it's real cold, I have a few hang ons in bedding areas where I only hunt a few times a year and have to get in under darkness silently. I think climbers and hang ons have their place, ladders I can see using again in my latter years of bowhunting in say, 20-30 years.
