I am going to bear hunt this fall. The problem is I will be on public land and can't leave a lock-on or a ladder stand in the woods so I need to buy a climber.

I've never used one before. I am 6'4" and 240lbs and have size 14 boots. So, a small one wouldn't be for me.

What are your thoughts on a model that might be for me and why???

    Thanks!

Well I'm not 6'4" 240 lol, but I love my Summit Viper. Easy to set up, easy to haul, and easy to climb.

I also love my Summit Viper. I'm only 6'2" 210 but there is plenty of extra room.

Summit Goliath is what I use. I'm only 6'1 and 200 lbs though but I have plenty of room.

Give the Equalizer a hard look. They adjust to the tree and they have a new larger one. I think the web site is equalizertreestands.com.

I am 6'2" 250 lbs and have a Loggy Bayou and love it! Comfy seat and great size and easy to pack! I have Summit Cobra also but use the Loggy over it!

The Summit Goliath and the Summit Viper are the same stands except for the Goliath is 2 inches wider and I think it only adds less than a pound. That caused me to pick the Goliath as I like roomy stands. It has a 350 weight capacity of my memory is any good. I would strongly suggest the Goliath for a large guy.

That is what I have and I'm not the type of guy to rationalize his purchase buy suggesting it's the greatest thing to others because I have it. Good luck.

I have a Summit Viper that I really like. You might like the Summit Goliath which is the larger version of the Viper.
