After looking at the Equalizer, Treewalker, Summit, Lone Wolf and whatever else Cabelas, Bass Pro and a few other places carries...I am really liking the Open Shot. I just would like to hear from someone 6'1" 220(ish) lbs and how they liked it.

I believe there is a review on Cabelas recently from a larger gentleman (no I'm not calling you fat, lol), and it was mentioned that he didn't quite like the size.

I just got my sales paper from Bass Pro and they have the Summit 180 on sale right now for $229. I have one and love it. You can face the tree or away from the tree. It's a little on the heavy side but feels wonderfull to the hiney.

Summit. you won't be dissapointed at all. Have had mine for yrs. Have added a lot of extras, like front & side pockets, blind/warmer. Feel perfectly safe, & comfortable. I stay up in my stand from sun up to sun down during gun season. Have even slept in it. No problems/worries. weighs 21#.
Do go out & try a bunch before you buy.

OHbowhunter did you have any thoughts on the Loggy?

After reading through here, if you can pick up that Summit 180 for $229 I would probably go with that one, it is a nice stand with a couple nice features! I however am not a fan of the cable lock system on Summits and I cant climb right with a summit because I always get the cables hung up on the back of the stand, but I am sure this is all stuff "I" could get used to if i would go with the Summit?

The Mega Transformer dont look to bad and if I have a shop that has one I will take a look at it. But, I'm not sure I like the bar/foot holding set up. I can see how it would be fast getting set, but I like my feet to be secure. What I do like is how it has a removable front bar. But I am not sure if the 9001has it or just the 9011.

It is just the 9011 Mega Transformer Pro Staff Model that has the removable front bar, this is the treestand that is on sale through there website! The foot bar thingy actually looks like it would work well, but I never ueven put it on I always use the side angles of the treestand to climb. I could never get used to using the stirups/straps/or bars.

Gd Luck in your search for your treestand, fill us in when you decide on one!!

I ended up getting the Summit Open Shot Deluxe.

Assembly was easy, but I was disappointed to find out that they did not include the backpack straps in the box. Also not included was the tie to connect the top and bottom section. I emailed Summit and they have the straps on the way here. That simple.

One thing I notice right off the bat after testing it was how hard it was to climb with sweaty hands. I fixed this problem by adding some non-skid strips to where you hold onto, and the leftover strips I put on the platform. The seat is comfortable and I love how it flips up.

This stand is 100 times better then the one I have used for the last couple years.

Gotcha. I had no problem (besides the moisture) using the downward angle bar, but I only went up about 6 feet just testing it out. I can see your way being helpful to get to full height.
