I'm 14 and go hunting all the time. I have a few ladder stands and a hang on stand with climbing sticks. I also have an old woods and water hand climber that my dad used to use. Its loud and takes a while to set up. I was looking for a new one that is not too expensive, but will also be easy to me to carry to where I hunt. I walk about .75 miles. I hunt archery, muzzleloader and rifle. I definetly want a shooting rail. Any suggestions?

You can look into getting a summit stand. They are VERY comfortable. Summit is an all around good stand. They arent extremely light but no big deal to carry a mile. You could check out the viper, razor, goliath or any of their models really.

I like and use the open shot but you said you wanted a shooting rail and it doesnt have one. I love that it weighs only 14 pounds. I hear the viper is a good one.

Summit Viper SD all the way man. There light, quiet and very easy to set-up and pack-up. I have bought several different stands over the years and nothing out there is as good as Summit in my opinion. I got my latest Viper on sale for $230 from ebay.

You'd be doing yourself a favor to check out the Aluminum Ol Man stands.

It depends on what you want in a stand. The Summits, as many here already said, are easy to use and climb with and very comfortable. Their downside is packing and noise, though you can do things to help the noise some and experience using it will definitely make you quieter with them.

Don't forget about the Lone Wolf either. I think they're geared more toward the guys who want a super packable, more stealthy climber. They're a touch smaller than the Summits, but the quietness and small packing size is great.

I've been a die hard Summit guy, love the stands in general, but am thinking hard about going back to a Lone Wolf for the reasons above.

For noise dampening of those stands

Get a 1 ft square piece of packing foam not Styrofoam because it squeaks. Foam very similar place it between end of the summit tighten down with securing straps and the sound you hear are the sound you make.

    That's a guarantee.
