Been shopping around for a new hang-on, thought I found the best deal on a stand and sticks on clearance at Midway USA. I have never shopped there before.

So I get my $150 worth of order in my cart and the shipping comes out to $70. Seriously charging me 50% of the retail price in shipping?!? I mean, its not like I ordered a gun safe or something. I'm ordering a 20# stand and 20# climbing sticks.

This makes buying standard retail at Cabelas with free shipping seem much more reasonable, even if they come out to the same cost. Comparable items shipped from ****s/Cabelas/BPS show approx $20 in shipping. What gives with Midway USA? Its almost like false advertising of their "deep discounted prices".

Could be worse. Sportman's Warehouse started charging sales tax on your merchandise and your shipping.

Used to you could get a good deal from them, but I guess they established a physical presence in Indiana and that's when they started tacking sales tax onto everything.

Check out my Sportsman Guide thread. They have a lot of stuff 50-60% off with a ton of promos for free shipping, $15 off, etc...

Any company that does business online that does over a certain $ amount gross in a year in online sales is required to collect tax from each state they sell in. These laws have been ramping up the past few years big box stores lobbying to shut down the internet cut throats

That is a reasonable shipping rate based on UPS quotes put the size of the box and weight in uPS and get a quote you would be suprised how much it is.

I get that and I have no problem paying sales tax for merchandise, but they charge sales tax on your merchandise AND again on your shipping costs.

I'm pretty sure Midway has free shipping with $100 or $150 order..not sure which. I just made a $200 order with them a few weeks ago and shipping was free.

We've order thousands (sigh) of dollars worth of stuff from Midwayusa and never found the shipping to be overpriced.

Maybe go back and see if there are other shipping options.

I know personally at work we do collect in IL on shipping because we charge a little more than the shipping to cover material and labor cost to ship so in IL if you make more than the actual shipping it becomes taxable. Some companies do it just to cover their butts in the long run in case of an audit.

I was looking at those too when shopping, but I'm going to ****s for the "Comfort Zone 20' Sticks" b/c it has steps on both sides instead of staggered steps. Still tough to beat that Wal Mart price.
