Nope just go to a sporting good store or market. wherever they sell hunting tags and ask for the AO(Archery Only) Deer tag. It is good in all D Zones, and it is good for archery, and general season. But DO NOT Carry a handgun with this tag in archery season.

My last bow was a 2004 Hoyt Razortec. GREAT BOW. it was the first year the came out with the 1-1/2 Cam system i think.

There are lots of deer up here, but you really got to do your pre season scouting and bag your deer quick. because hunting pressure pushes the deer to my other spots i wont be showing you.

Awesome, I didn't know it was that easy. My dad and I have been shooting for a year, and now we can't wait to get our first deer. The only areas we know about are in Imperial county but I'm sure there are a lot less deer there.

Oh thats awesome. hunting is very rewarding. even if you dont find a shooter. it is awesome just getting out there and enjoying the wild. especially with your pops. my dad cant hunt, but we ride motorcycles together. But i cant wait tell my son is old enough to hunt. As for right now. I prefer just to hunt alone. It gives me time to just hike threw the woods, and think about nothing else in the world but what is around me. I would love to take you guys out and scout a bit. I dont work most weekends so just let me know when you guys want to scout some areas. Next weekend the lady and I are going on a three day hunting trip though.

I love scouting just as much as I love shooting my bow. I spend a lot of time in the desert hiking. It's such a great feeling being out in nature.

We've been talking about scouting next month or as soon as possible. I'm definitely going to take you up on your offer! I'll take some time off work and we'll check some places out. Thanks a lot, I'll definitely keep in touch!

    .

Yea I lived in Scotland a few years and in Europe they hang everything to let it age...and frankly tastes great. Haven't done it much in the past but think I'm going to age my birds (pheasant, ducks, turkey, etc) in the cooler like we do deer. might try some doves as well to see if there's much of a difference in taste.

I have a fridge in the garage for my ducks and geese. I like to let them hang in there at 36 degrees for three to four days. The difference is amazing compared to cleaning right away

Check out the book "Duck Duck Goose" by Hank Shaw. He is a world renowned chef. He describes in great detail everything you need to know about from the field to the table. Cleaning, aging, and some of the best recipes you can imagine. I got the book on amazon.

Natural enzymes start doing what they do. Breaking down the muscle and fat. It tenderizes the meat and gives better texture and flavor. It makes handling the meat easier too. It's all about the enzymes.

I've heard you can age up to a week but then the fat will start turning rancid.

Hopefully I can find a place to get some ducks next season and try that out. No luck this last season. Try One of each to compare. So my next question is What are some good recipes. All Ive ever done is wrap the deboned breast meat with bacon and a jalapeño and cheese inside. Grill and eat. But Id love to try it other ways.
