I have watched these deer in a woodlot in city limits almost everyday for years so finally a few days ago I seen a buck hanging out on the edge. He wasnt very big but beings that I was desperate I decided to set up behind a natural blind near the edge. About 4 oclock I see him and 2 little forkers come out. I must have tried to pick my bow up 20 diffrent times and every time these guys would look up as if they had already been shot at a hundred times. Wow I have never seen deer so on edge. Finally they walk within 20 yards and my little 7 walks behind a large 4ft diameter tree and the other two are turned the other way checking where they had just exited. I draw my bow and get ready for him to come around the tree. He steps forward and looks right at me and poof he is gone! I know I didnt move and I made no noise I even had perfect cover and wind in my favor. He never stomped snorted or anything. At 1.5 he was as scidicous as a veteran 5 year old. I swear he could see through that tree. I now have more respect for the people that try to hunt in areas close to town it definetely isnt a slam dunk Like I expected. I have been humbled.

At the farm I work at... if we are running the grain dryer, running equipment or working in the yard... the deer walk though the yard see us and just continue on. You try hunting them and it just about drives you insane on how jumpy and spooky they are.

The old 4 pt I talk about all the time... beds within a 100 yards of our shop in a 3 acre grove of trees that is an absolute nasty jungle. He hears, smells and probably watches us everyday while we work. He doesn't come out of the grove until almost dark. He is back in it before light in the morning. The only way to hunt him is to sneak into the grove. I've managed to do it once and could have shot him but passed. Was still looking for a bigger buck at the time and wanted to shoot a doe. There are quite a few of them in there which makes it even more interesting.. It is next to impossible to get in there without getting busted and have all the deer run out the other end. I picked a really windy day to cover any noise I made otherwise not a chance of getting in there !! I have no doubt I got lucky as the does bed all over in it. There is 50 yards of no cover getting to it and then a billion old branches on the ground you have to pick your way through to get to the back side where he travels it.

He is an old warrior and knows a good spot to bed.

You watched a bunch of deer come out into the same lot for years and then you went and stood on the ground and they walked 20 yards in front of you and you were able to get to full draw on them??

I don't know what scidicous means but I hope it's synonymous with dumb.
