    Devils advocate has arrived.

Difference in animal is a moot point... A 60 yard shot is a 60 yard shot. Create a thread about how terrible it is for us as hunters to take a 60 yard shot... And then defend a 62 yard shot?

My favorite one. "I didn't shoot at him I shot him"

I've never hunted out West, so it may be a little more common place given the environment. With that being said, I don't think I would ever be comfortable taking shots at those distances regardless of the game, but again, that's me.

I would say the difference between an elk and a whitetail is a difference worth considering. All conditions favorable, 60 was my limit on elk this past season. I don't know anything about antelope to discuss that topic.

The best part of that exchange was lower down when someone said "You didn't shoot him you wounded him"

I agree that those shots are just too far on fidgety animals. All of these tv shows are getting pathetic. I watched a show the other day that wounded and lost 2 deer in one episode. I know "things happen" but I have found that when you are patient and take shots inside 25 yards, a lot less of those "things happen".

The worst part I think is that he believes that he is completely in the right and that no one will ever be able to tell him otherwise. I myself have never heard of him but he seems to had a good size following and there will be many that that will follow in his footsteps.

It's only moot if you aren't familiar with the difference in the animals.

Not a fan of Chris Brackett. I can't speak for everyone else's abilities with a bow, but that shot is beyond my abilities, big rack or not.

A 60 yard shot is a 60 yard shot. Assuming ANY wild animal is/isn't going to react a certain way is just silly.

"Elk and antelope are from the west, they don't duck arrows or react to shots so it's ok to take a longer shot."

    Got it.

    So you've clarified that a 60 yard shot is a 60 yard shot but what's a 50 yard shot?

Anybody got a link of an elk or mule deer jumping the string and ducking an arrow?

well looks like the off season is upon us for most! I have edited videos before. what you see is only about 80% of what really happened. cutting and splicing can make an average hunt a great hunt. for sponsored hunters, no footage = no job! I'm sure he was desperate. with a rut like we had this year I'm sure there were a lot of the sponsored guys in panic mode to fill a one hour tv show. the deer are the ones paying the price for our entertainment.

Our entire environment is paying the price for our entertainment/convenience, at this point a few deer won't make a difference. ha

With regulation and a forward thinking population the environment is in much better shape than the past. Civilization uses natural resources I refuse to be feel bad about it.

Still Not forward thinking enough in a lot of places. No one is asking anyone to feel bad however a greater level of awareness woudlnt hurt anything. The sad part is that even with awareness you will still have segments that either don't care out of ignorance or greed.
