I've got a 1999 Honda Civic EX that I use as a commuter car. It has a 129000 miles on it and it's in good shape. My best bud's a car dealer and I get really good deals on cars. He has a 2003 Kia Optima V6 with 45000 miles on it that I can trade even for. Both cars will obviously be paid for so a car payment is no issue. I'm just wonder if you guys would make the trade?
I've had some friends that have had KIA. Long story short, they are junk. At around 60k they start to fall apart. One friend had the door fall off as he was driving it. These were all the cheap models though.
I'd probably do it Brandon... Unless you have the plans to turn your honda into a Pissed off Bumble Bee... LOL... But just for commuting... I'd make the trade. Just remember, when it comes time to get rid of the KIA it's not going to have 1/4 of the value as the Honda would.
My wife had a Kia Optima we bought new in like 2001. It was rock solid with no issues. We traded it within 3 years for something different ( a mini van) due to kids coming along about that time frame. We had no issues with the car what-so-ever.
I'm not a fan of Kia's, but when it's four years newer and has a 1/4 of the miles, that's hard to pass up. Good luck with that decision.
thanks guys. I think I'll trade him. But if any body is close by I've got a 99 Civic EX for sale. New tires, new timing belt and all belts ,intake, loaded $3900. I got pics if you're interested.
I've got a '97 Honda Accord with 163,000 miles and she's still running like a champ. I think that's a decent trade comparing miles to miles, but I'm guessing that your Honda would have lasted just as long as the Kia will last you if you decide to trade.
I would never make the trade, especially with the V6 Kia. I would take the Civic with 200k versus the Kia with 45k. Been in the business for over 16 yrs now ( my brother for about 20 yrs) and Hondas-Toyotas have always been our best selling cars. It is what we see every week with the most miles and fewest problems. I have seen a half dozen Hondas and Toyotas in the last few weeks with miles ranging from 240k-354k still running good. I doubt you will see many Kias with that kind of miles.
Thanks guys for the input. I couldn't pass up the deal. As much as I liked the honda that optima rode so much better and being 4 doors it suited my needs a little better. I put 80,000 miles on the honda and sold it for $1000 less than I gave for it in 2005, not too shabby. If the Kia starts messing up I'll sell it off and buy an Accord or Maxima, the civic just rides to rough for my liking.
