Well I'm nearly killed myself this past spring and beginning of summer trying to improve my Cholesterol levels after having them checked in April and being told my LDL was at 190 and HDL was at 40 I was forced to make a life style change. Well After 60 days of RIP:60 and 35 lb's I was more fit then I was after boot camp. I started at 235 lb and in June I was a stunning 200 lb's of lean muscle and looking good (this was my wife's comments) One of the main meals I consumed with in those 60 days was ground turkey extra lean. After my 60 days was up I switched to Venison. to me it taste a lot better and I had over 100 lbs of it get rid of any ways. Fast forward a couple of months and it was September. I was not working out any more and started getting my belly back. I had gone for a 36" waist to a 32" waist and now I'm back to the 34". Here is the point of my rambling. I recently had my Cholesterol checked again and it came back as LDL 127 and HDL 47. At first I was shocked at why it wasn't under 100 mark. So I just now conducted some online research and found that Venison isn't as good for me as I thought it was. It’s still better than beef but not by much. I'll need to cut back on my portions going forward and revisit the turkey burger meals. Has anyone else researched this topic? Are there any medical experts that can add suggestions? My wife now thinks I should not eat it for a few months as I'm preparing to apply for supplement life insurance and they are picky especially giving my families horrible history of heart disease.
Lots of other things affect cholesterol levels too, especially exercise levels. Eating venison instead of turkey isn't likely to be the only reason to put 2 inches back on. Ref:

Interest reading Christine. My father had Quadruple bypass heart surgery at age 42. he has 6 siblings and out of all 7 kids only 2 of them haven't suffered heart problems; however, one of those 2 is my uncle Jack and he has many other ailments that i would prefer to have heart problems then. My Grandpa probably had over 10 heart attacks before he died of Liver disease. Go figure right! I'm one of 4 brothers and I’m the only one checking my levels, as I do not want my son to go through the pain and hardship of seeing his father be turned into a lesser of a man. I've done all the research back in April when I first found out about the higher levels of LDL. the one reading that I found most informative was the cholesterol medicines. That’s the first i heard about them being harmful; although, I've always steered away from taking meds for anything. I'll revisit my meds with my Doctors to see if they are necessary with my family history and me being borderline high risk. Again Thanks for the good read.
