    I don't know Sota
    I'm going to ask
After Bidens first Chinese spying allowance, blow back, are we sure these are not the southern boarder surveillance vehicles that he withdrew ? Look at how the top military, DOD, FBI, CIA are in the Dems pocket. Is this a possible, hugely expensive, crazed attempt to misdirect attention from his original fly over sin?
That sound crazy? Well look what's been allowed on our southern border for the last 2 years. Think back on what was allowed during covid and being purposed in the future. Think about the over all Ukrain situation. Then try dismissing the thought after that. BTW do not think Truadau would not be a willing participant being the cockroache he is.

    Ps.
I want to see real time photos and account on every one of those surveillance Vehicles that Biden has ordered removed from the border. Him shooting down small cylindrical objects.....isn't that a description of those vehicles? Over kill if it is that will be another blow back.
Of course we won't find the truth until years after the fact as usual

Who says they are Chinese? They are claiming unidentifiable. Referring to them as objects. They are just "popping up" mid country in low altitudes and very remote areas?

Re Canada- Canadian plans were involved.

Recovery efforts are allegedly underway for the (alleged) Chinese balloon, 2 smaller cylindar objects and the Lk Huron octagonal object.

In Chinese news, the US has allegedly flown similar surveillance balloons over China in the past-China claims at least 10 times...US denies. And a UFO reported near a Chinese port city.

The great thing for them is...
They have already been able to put out there...
Components of the KNOWN Chinese spy Ballon had American writings on them.
So let's see how much that continues with these, that is if " recovery " efforts don't fail. Like I said years later the actual truth will come out. I don't actually need to list past events that are becoming too numerous.

C17 arrived in Alaska yesterday with gear. But there was some rumblings yesterday they may never recover the wreckages in AK and CA.

Doesn't anyone wonder, years and years we've had hobby balloons and weather /climate balloons flying in aviation spaces without major incidents yet now they need shooting down with sidewinders. They couldn't determine the size? You didn't have actual air ship guns mounted?
What did that poor pilot actually know before forced to fire.
I still want to know where the missed shot landed

Exactly. Shooting down something like a hobby balloon and recovering it will only make you look (more) incompetent.

    Let's put the pieces together:
US recon observes balloon launch of shortly after Hainan island.

Discussion of a chance to the sensitivity of our systems.

Balloon shot down ~ week later off SC.

    Other stuff later shot down

Chinese originally claim 'weather balloon' later claims that the US was doing the same.

    My read:
Since the end of the Cold War, escalation over Star Wars tech has become an increasing escalation point. China blows a satellite in 2007. More recent years all kinds of spy v spy tech floating around in space or high altitudes.

US or foreign Intell figures out there is a gap and cheaper option above 50k altitude and below 'a certain altitude’ where most planes, possibly timely detection and defenses to date are effective. Likely this exploit has been used for some time.

We build some better detection. China gets busted with a relatively low balloon at a mere 60k. We have no plan in place, but one is figured out (f22+aim 9) is a viable option. Some concerns though if passive target has enough signature to register or work at sub -60f temps…and if a miss (not wreckage) would be an issue…what the hell, over the ocean ( or big enough water body) we mitigate that risk. Chinese balloon is the proof of concept.

But oops, we’re a little too sensitive and trigger happy over AK, Canada and then the oh **** miss over Lk Huron as we realize were shooting all sorts of stupid stuff out of the sky…how bad is this Mylar balloons?

This story gets buried like Jimmy Hoffa…next news cycle.

We recently became an ITAR facility. We run some stuff for DOD and aerospace, haven't had to deal with it yet since being promoted. It does sound like it will be a PITA when we do start running some parts.
