With the OH opener this weekend, I'm planning on hunting Sat and Sunday. I'm worried about the chiggars. I've been using a spray with Deet in it and it's very effective, but I'm worried about the scent from the Deet. Any suggestions for those of you who fight chiggars?

i dont think about it to much, just deal with it if it happens. I wear long sleeves and the woods i hunt have descent paths to walk through.

We have tons of those little buggers here. You can't beat Permethrin spray for keeping chiggers off of you. There are a couple of brands out there. The one that's woked the best for me is Permanone by Repel. You can find it at BPS and some other locations. I love this stuff. Spray your hunting clothes and shoes/boots, let them dry (it dries scent free) and it'll keep ticks and chiggers off of you for weeks. It lasts through multiple washings. It's really great stuff.

I've never had any chigger problems in Ohio.

Hunt naked, that way they have no tight spots to get stuck in!

Another vote for Permanone. Walmart carries it as well.

I don't have problems with chiggers but I do with seed ticks. If they get on my treated clothing....they usually are falling off dead by the time they reach my knees.
