Ahhhh... Chicago politicians, gotta luv 'em. Even tho' it's our lives they're usually screwing up. So this IL State Senator, Donne Trotter, who opposes concealed carry for the unwashed masses in his state, tries to board a plane with a handgun in his garment bag. Class 4 felony. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/06/donne-trotter-arrested-on_n_2249663.html (his security guard claim is bs) Ironically, Trotter is trying out for the special election to replace U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr., who resigned recently while under federal investigation. Jackson got his spot after his predecessor Mel Reynolds was convicted of sexual assault, child pornography, fraud and other charges. Mel Reynolds got his spot after his predecesoor Gus Savage lost partially because of sexual misconduct accusations and according to Gus 'Only white people can be racist' Savage, 'racist jews' that donated to Reynolds campaign.. and Savage was somehow involved in a drive-by shooting and sheesh, I can't keep track.. Mel Reynolds (the child porn guy) is also making a run to get his old job back now that Jackson Jr. is out. Maybe Trotter thinks a felony conviction will help him get a job higher up in IL politics. Heck, he should just run for Governor! If you made this stuff up, people wouldn't believe it.
Funny stuff. Christine, I've read some about the process NRA is going through to enable IL residents to carry concealed and tonight saw that the Cabelas store in Hoffman Estates is providing AZ and UT permit classes. What is the outlook for Il residents to be able to carry in the future?
NRA is using the court system, since the legislative means hasn't been productive. They are suing saying no concealed carry is a violation of the Second Amendment. There is a bill to legalize concealed carry, however we would need a super majority vote otherwise Gov. Quinn will just veto it. I think we are six or less votes away from getting that super majority. I see the anti-gunners are getting pretty nervous about the chances of it getting passed in the not-so-distant future. So that's a good sign. If you move here, stay out of Crook County. They will still find ways to impede your rights. (did you see they just passed a $25.00 tax per gun on new purchases in Cook Co.. What a crock.) I'm an instructor with the USRA (and the NRA) and I can tell you, the defensive handgun classes fill fast and there are a bunch of them around. Depending on the instructors you can qualify for an out-of-state CCW. UT and FL seem to be the most populart. Still won't do you any good in IL.... yet.
Do you need the defensive hand gun classes and would i be able to take them? Im only 19 now and would like to be able to carry if it is passed once im of age to buy a hand gun. Also you said you might qualify for out of state CCW how would that work exactly?
I've been laughing about this since I saw the report the other day, Christine. I love it. "You cant carry a gun......but I can". This state is so laughable its not even funny.
It would be difficult to find a bigger cesspool of scum than the political offerings of Illinois, and Chicago more especially. It still absolutely baffles me and proves the lack of intelligence of the voting public that elected a man from that corruption to be our President. It repulses me and should repulse the entire country. Seriously, a man gives up a cabinet position to become the Mayor of Chicago!?? How much more transparent can the corruption be? I guess the pay must have been better...lol. Yet, the state of Illinois continues to wallow in the same bog of crime and corruption that has become more of a joke than it really should be.
It's the state of Chicago, IL is just another suburb of it. Cook county controls IL, so many laws and amendments to laws are not passed due to the simple fact it would interfere with their laws. One counties votes nullify the entire state, I think Quinn won two counties in the last election. I'd get banned if I continue
If IL passes concealed carry you will need to take some sort of class to get your permit. Depending on what trainers/organizations are giving the courses, you may be able to take the class if you're under 21. I recommend a basic handgun class followed with a defensive handgun class. If you're interested in these classes, let me know. (pm me) I know the FL CCW is good for several states. You will have to wait until you're 21 to apply. Here's info on FL's CCW. http://www.usacarry.com/florida_concealed_carry_permit_information.html If you click around on that site, you'll see info on the other states as well. Hopefully by time you're 21, this state will have CCW.
It seems that most Illinois residents are embarassed to live there. At least, embarassed about their politics. I dont understand how nothing can ever get done about it. The same political crimes continue to repeat, over and over and........
Hopefully he's rich too, I hate to see stipulations and price tag(probably annual) on one when it passes. It will pass eventually, but they won't make it worthwhile. Won't recognize NR CCW permits or training either I would bet. They'll turn it into another revenue stream to loot and pilfer from. They're already going to jack license plates up another $2($101) to help fund education although I thought that was what lottery sales went towards. Can you imagine the annual increases on an anti-Chicago permit?
I love Chicago politics.. so warped they are.. and so entertaining. I never quite understand how some of these guys even get elected.. but then I read someone's forum post or have a conversation with people and realize how ridiculously out of touch people generally are with politics and how they work. If you've ever seen this guy speak.. you would be amazed that any thinking person would vote for him.. truly amazed.
Chicago political train at it's best. Went to Chicago for the first time this past summer, and can't say I really enjoyed my lone visit there. I met a girl from Chicago once at Mardi Gras in St. Louis. She wasn't bad. I love Mardi Gras. Hopefully in the near future we can get CCW passed.
We should combine this thread with the "what are we drinking this weekend" thread. Could be fun times for the mods.
