When im at hunting I have notice when i put a dip of apple skoal chew in i usually see deer with in a hour. Do you think this works for an attractant or am i just thinking it does work? Have anyone of guys noticed that when you have a dip in something to think about
Born, you are probably seeing deer because you are hunting in spots where there are deer. I quit chewing 3 years ago and have not looked back.
This^^^^^^^.....Monday made 3 years for me, and I have noticed zero difference in kills sightings etc...It does seam that it takes longer to burn an area as opposed to when I was spitting all over the ground.
I think that they quit making the apple flavored skoal. I used to do the apple pouches when I was deer hunting and I can't find it any where anymore.
I chewed last season while on stand but, I never spit on the ground always in a bottle. I have found myself doing it some while scouting lately and have kicked my self in the a** for it. I am going to try to stop before season open this year but, if I haven't stopped I will not be doing it on stand. Maybe in the morning before a shower and teeth brushing and after I come off stand and out of the woods but, no more in the woods. Wintergreen long cut has one strong smell and could have caused me to miss a few or more deer last year.
Isnt skoal like eight bucks a can now?? Im glad I gave it up, could never afford it anymore. Plus Ive heard whitetails prefer copenhagen.
I killed my buck with a big ol dip in last season lol. Levi Garrett though, he would have smelled Red Man :D
I keep a can on me when I hunt. I've had a nice pinch of Grizzly in while I'm sitting in the stand and havent seen any more and any less than the usual number of deer that walk through. My old man takes a cigar with him everytime he goes and still see's and kills nice deer.
I mix dirt in with skoal straight to hide the smell. It's also like getting 2 cans for the price of 1
I quit 1 year and 2 months ago but I never dipped while in the stand. I was always afraid they would smell it.
My best buck so far, which was my first buck with a bow, was a 10 point that I took in Arkansas year before last. I got him after watching him walk straight to my tree from 120 yards out, sniff where I'd been spitting on the ground and then lick the leaves for over a minute. I finally got my shot when he walked away. In my opinion it's not the smell that's a problem. In my experience it doesn't bother them in the least. The problem comes from all of that extra movement. I've been busted four different times doing this, and once it cost me the best buck I've ever actually seen in the woods. It wasn't the buck that busted me - it was the hot doe he was chasing.
I know it's not exactly the same as chew, but I've had buddies that have had luck with products like this one: \Mint Snuff Replacement
I haven't dipped since high school baseball, I would fall out of my treestand if I tried it again! I'll pass.....
I dipped for many years until a white spot on my tongue appeared and they cut approx and inch by an inch off my lower tongue. Luck for me they got all the cancer and it hasn't came back. Ya play with fire....sometimes you get burned. Let me tell ya boys, painful as hell experience. Let me know and I'll post a picture if you need alittle "encourgagement" to quit chewing.
