So here is my issue I install a Reese Pilot into my pickup.....
I have it all wired as suppose to a damn thing won't work?????????
If the truck is NOT running it seems to be working and as so as I start the truck it's telling me I have the brakes engaged and I'm not touching them ( example; if I have controller on 5.3 with truck off and start truck it goes to 5.3 and doesn't go to zero like it should...... Any recommendation to resolve will be appreciated.....

We were actually just talking about this the other day cause we just bought a new work truck.

If your talking about the brake controller that comes already in the newer GM trucks it needs to be hooked to a actual trailer before you can test it. Otherwise it just sends a pulse to where you plug in the trailer and won't show that it works. Apparently it just "looks" for a trailer and you can't get a good reading with a test light. Not sure exactly how it all works but that's just what the guy at the local trailer sales place said. He's got some kind of special plug thing that you haveta use to check everything.

The info didn't come from a dealer or anything but that's all this guy does is wire trucks and trailer and we've never had any problems with any work he's done for us. Or if that's not really any help then it might be good info for next time ha. We broke the factory plug out of a work truck and tried to fix it ourselves and couldn't get it so that's how we found out.

next solution is replacing the brake control switch ... Cross fingers.....

I guess only other thing is if the controller is applying the brakes or if the display is just showing that the 5.3 or whatever is applied. Most brake controller I see always have some number on them like 1-10 but don't apply the pressure to the breaks unless the pedal is pushed or the switch on the controller is pushed. Or until you change it yourself.

Idk guess kinds got me curious about what's goin on too ha
