i will never own another dodge have had 3 and all 3 were hell on the pocket book from being in the shop for everything from radiators to engines to transmissions and everything in between needless to say i'm not a fan of dodge's

cant say anything bad or good about chevy's have had several friends with chevy's that never had any issues and have had a few friends that had poor luck but they didnt exactly take care of their vehicles

now ford's are my favorite by far have had 3 2 of them have 230k plus without any issues and have been run into the ground yet they refuse to quit then i have my favorite of the 3 my 02 f-150 single cab with the 4.6L v-6 standard 2x4 this truck has been in 3 wrecks 2 front end and 1 rear end collision all due to other drivers i might add but yet nothing mechanically is wrong with the truck still even with the damage and hell its been put through only thing ever wrong with it from any of the wrecks has been body damage and thats it and really i cant complain about gas mileage i get close to 20 on the highway and about 15 in the city

so IMHO Ford trucks are built to last and wont let you down in a pinch

On my way home from work last night. I'm approaching an intersection a state highway and I see a couple vehicles with their 4 ways on. I get to the stop sign and look the situation over thinking accident first as anyone would. But nope, just a broken down Dodge in the middle of this highway. Almost blocking both lanes. I slowly drive by engines running no drivers side rear tire and a forklift is lifting up the rearend. I'm guessing trans went out. Had the window down all I could say was Well no surprise its a Dodge! All I could do was laugh.

Yeah, Dodge's transmissions do suck. That why you get one with 3 pedals and a shifter :tu:

Still driving my 1990 Chevrolet K-Blazer. Not sure about mileage, the odometer quit working in 2000 at 167,500. I am probably knocking on 300K but not sure. I have changed the radiator, two water pumps, fuel pump, 1 starter and 1 alternator. A few odds and ends here and there... The dash and driver seat is gone and the only gauge that still works is the Speedometer but it runs like a sewing maching and I am still getting around 19 on the road and 14 around town. The four wheel drive still works perfect.

Have been thinking about rebuilding it and giving it to my son when he turns 16 in two years.

I also had an F250 until it was totaled by a drunk driver with no license(3rd offense), no job, wasn't his vehicle, no insurance... He was going 60 when he rear ended us at a redlight and we walked away. The head restraints likely saved my son and me from serious injuries. I was going to replace it and haven't done so yet but one thing several body shops told me... "You couldn't have been in a tougher vehicle to get hit like that." When I do buy new, it will probably be a new Ford. The Chevy head restraints, especially in the back seat are next to useless.

I owned a 77 Dodge and had decent service though I did have a lot of electrical and corrosion issues and had to rebuild my transmission.

I drove a Chevy Silverado 2000 Z71 and loved it....sold it with about 102K on it....huge mistake....3 years later I bought a GMC Seira Z71 with 156K on it....was never the truck the first one was.

I love what Ford is doing! Hate the Dodge.....would never own one, other than a minivan
    Chevy took the money

Wouldn't touch dodge with a 10 foot pole. I love the looks of fords in general. I drive an '06 F150xlt and its been great so far. Only 77000 miles on it now though. Had to change the battery a couple months ago but thats been it other than just regular maintenance. I don't know anyone with the ECOBoost but know a few with the 5.0 Coyote motor. For the most part they have been in the shop more than on the road. That being said I don't know if they were all motor issues or not. Just know they have been in the shop. I know one of them has had 2 trannys in it so far and been on the F150 forum and there have been many complaints about the new tranny.

At the moment I think chevy has the best drivetrain. I like their interiors more too. They are laid out better than the other 2. Wish I could put my dads dash in my truck. I would maybe give ford 1 more year to sort out the issues with the new drivetrain before I bought one. I think the main reason Chevys drivetrain are so nice is because they have using the same one now for 13yrs with just little tweaks. Although they did introduce a new tranny a couple years ago if I remember right.

All this bagging on Dodge transmissions.... My 1997 GMC Sierra just dropped the tranny today :( It has 145,000 miles on it, and she gave out today. I was hauling 3 bucks to the butcher shop for some friends, I went to pull out onto the road and it wouldn't go lol. Now I have the choice of getting rid of the truck, buying a new transmission, or buying another truck and keeping this one to fix. Tough choices...

A 153 3/8, a 149 even, and a 135ish buck, the straws that broke the cammels back! I have hauled skid loaders and loads of wood that maxed out my 3/4 ton leaf springs, all with a 305 engine  She has been good up until lately
