anyone here know anything about cherry trees. I have a bunch of these trees, and never ate any until this weekend. Pretty tasty, not that sour.

There are 2 types of trees, the sweet cherry like bing and the sour cherry like montmorency. I have 2 trees that are the sour type and they are used for jams and pies. In this geo location all my cherries are still small and green but in a couple of weeks I will be picking them. Between the 2 trees I get a few dozen qts of cherries which I freeze and Mrs CI uses all year long to make pies. I have to put big nets over the trees so the birds don't eat them all.

We have a wild cherry tree in our backyard. The cherries are small and not very tasty, but the birds love them.

I think we have figured them to be rainier cherrys. I didn't know there was so many cherry trees.

There are actually many different types just like with apples. I have 9 apple trees, 2 sour cherry, 2 pear, one peach and one mulberry, plus raspberries, blackberries and blueberries. I have a black walnut ready to plant which I grew from a fallen nut and will probably put in a plumb tree too.

Plums, almonds, peaches, apricots are all the same genus as cherries, (Prunus).

Dang CI.... I'm coming to your house for a "Fruit Out". I haven't lived here long enough and probably won't be here long enough to plant and enjoy the "Fruits" of any labor. So, I buy the junk they call fruit in the grocery stores. Boy I miss trips to the peach trees in Georgia. LOL
