Just wanted to drop in and introduce myself since I have been a long-time lurker of this forum and several other archery forums. At the age of 38, I finally decided to take up hunting; however, I didn't take up bow hunting until last year. I started out last year with a Bear Legion RTH bow from Southwestern Archery on the recommendation of some of this very forums members (a father and son) from Maine (sorry I don't recall their names) that I encountered while hunting a Doe Only gun season at Heartland Lodge in Pike Co., IL. Last year it served me well and I was able to make my first ever archery kill and first ever buck (gun or bow) with it in mid-December netting a 132" 8 pointer from 44 yards. This year I felt that I wanted a faster bow and stepped up to a Mathews Creed from Southwestern Archery, which has also served me well thus far this year allowing me to take a doe and 122" 10 point buck in the early season here in IL. I look forward to continued learning from you all and interacting where I can. Living in Madison County and no where to hunt, I was blessed with the opportunity to join a hunting lease in Pike Co, IL last year and I am on it again this year so hopefully I can provide you some updates on what's going on in that area and what products have been working for and serving me well. Here's to hoping everyone has a good season.
