Got some arras finally and I (as usual) have a question or 2. First off, if you are unsure if you will need to cut your arrows, what do you use to set the inserts temporarily? Hot glue? Thanks, Bobby
On my aluminum's I just glue the Inserts In like normal with the glue I always use. If I need to take them out I heat the tip up slightly. Am I missing something here?
Yeah Smartarse I ain't never used aluminums before now.:d No, seriously, I have FMJ which are Carbon/Aluminum and I do not won't to heat up these high dollar arras and screw up the Carbon part. Know-what-I-mean Vern? Also got some 2016's that a buddy sent me, but they are already glued in, so I am just going to fletch those and leave at length until I see how they shoot.
Lol!!! I cannot help ya one bit there Bobby, I know nothing about these carbon SOB's. I gotta learn this stuff though being I'll be shooting FMJ's next year.
Well Son-of-a-buck, never thought of that. Learned something from Jeff? Well I'll be. LMAO Just kiddin Jeff.
Hey Bobby i use carbon arrows and ive used Easton A/C/C which are carbon /alluminium and i just hold them above the ring on my gas cooker for a couple of seconds and they come out real easy honest .Don't put it near the flame , let the rising heat do the work or alternatively use WARM water ( not boiling ) .... works a treat . I have never damaged an Arrow doing either way . You are using glue stick aren't ya ? . Hope that helps .
I will probably just do the "bag 'em" technique on the FMJ's for tuning. I do not use glue sticks for inserts anymore for permanent inserts. If the "bag 'em" technique does not yield the results I need, I may use the glue stick for temp. tuning only. Thanks for the tip Bails. The reason I do not use the glue sticks for permanent applications anymore is because of broadhead rotation and inserts pulled out over time. They do last for a while though if you prepare the inner shaft really well and clean it.
