I would also like to know what others bring, as a newbie to Bowhunting i have been all over this forum looking for and finding Great info.... in my bag so far is: Range Finder, Binoculars, first aid kit, gerber, pocket knife, flash light, GPS, orange marker tape, spare release, side arm, probably more but it escapes me at the moment, any other suggestions are greatly appreciated
I'm not one to pack a lot of stuff in and out of the woods. For a normal 4-6 hour sit it's the basics. climber, bow (release etc), rangefinder, binocs, pull up rope, a few bow hangers, grunt call, flash light. Thats about it.
Hey Billy, I was curious where you are hunting, and why it requires a side arm? Never thought about carrying a handgun while bowhunting I guess.
I usually bring a camo back pack and hang it up. Ill bring all kinds of goodies: Grunt call, scent field wipes, wind checker, saw, cell phone, water, Dip, binocs, knife, rangefinder, pullup rope and prolly a few more things, but just cant think of it.. I might bring something to set by my stand for the night...like acorn rage or some other attractant. Acorn's are everywhere where i hunt.
Depends on the day for me. Sometimes its bow, stand bow rope. Other days I have and additional Backpack, trimmer, wind-check, grunt call, bleat can, rattle horns, bow holder, range finder, gps, camera arm, camera, extra battery, Drag Buddy, knife, food, pee bottle, emergency TP........... Like I said, depends on the day:D

Hi There, I generaly Hunt in Kentucky, One year i had the misfortune of shooting a doe in the back paralyzing her (it was a bad shot), i had to wait for a buddy to show with a firearm to put her out of her misery, i felt terrible, and have since carried a sidearm.
I carry a sidearm bowhunting just in case there's is a dispute over where I'm hunting, or who's deer this is, or even if coyotes decide to wander too near. I also take water, snack, binonocs, knife, flashlight, calls, cell, range finder and, when nature requires, some TP and a Thermacell, oh, and bow and arrows, sometimes they come in handy too. Last, but not least, my Victory Cigar!
I was using a bow during gun season, the poor girl was flipping and flopping trying to get away but unfortunatly she had no use of her back legs. I was with the land owner who put the doe out of her misery, during that same trip i got my first introduction into coyote's and their intredting temperment. I learned alot from that trip to say the very least.
No, there's not going to be a gunfight. I carry for my own personal protection only. I hunt alone and have once been pushed off my deer by a couple of "sportsmen" carrying shotguns on public land. At least they waited for me to gut it out first. My state has CCW now, and we can carry for our protection during hunting season. I don't hear about this happening much anymore.
