    Where did you read that?

The only thing I got out of this so far is that a couple people have seen a high failure rate on cheap broadheads and a couple more have done okay so far with them.

I have nothing against NAP or rage, i think there both great and well made and better than the carbon express torrids i shoot, but I dont think that shooting a deer in the gut with a more expensive broadhead is going to make it die faster. put it in the lungs and it will die fast no matter how much it costs.

What about when a cheap head encounters bone? I'll take the expensive head.

Are we talking about ribs or shoulders and on what animal? I shoot whitails, not hogs or elk so I have no idea what is needed for that. all the deer i have killed the BH hasnt had any major issues with bone.

I mean forward shots in the scapula. Heavy bone. I have personally seen heads from Allen, Innerloc, and CX get absolutely destroyed by bone.

In order to help reinforce my Allen broadheads, I take them apart, put a strip of Insert Iron in the grooves where the blades go to help keep them in place. Up until yesterday i've shot the same 3 broadheads for 3 seasons with 10 deer harvested. I just clean them up, sharpen them, and put them back on. My shot yesterday was a good one, quartering away, 15 yards, arrow went straight through nearly full speed into a boulder. I had to retire that broadhead but I'm certain there aren't many that could've survived that impact, but for around $2 a piece it made it easier to swallow lol.

I had posted a question here a week or so ago about BH's and all this pretty much sumed it all up reading these post there are just guys that can aford to shoot a 3 pack of BN's for 40 to 50 dollars where alot of us or most of us use the lower priced ones and still do and effective job. Any BH will do the job if it's well placed and useing what your budget allow. I think I'll stay with my muzzy heads for now and just replace my blades as need.I've also use the Allen BH's before and never had a problem with them I just like the muzzy blades better and the head on a muzzy and when I got them they was only 26 bucks for 6 not a price you'll see today with alot of the newer ones other there. Just remember guys you have to practiice with every thing we use and tune it all in we all owe it to the game we hunt. Congrades on the deer you guys.

Bad shot are always. Possibility and when that happens I want to have the confidence that the bone will be losing

Really??? One can easily see by cruising the forums lately that not all shots wind up where you want them. Why not be more prepared?

No, its not. Its all about planning on making a great shot but being prepared for a poor hit. BIG difference.

Shoot a few deer with a bow and you will get the bigger picture.

I think the great divide here is the difference between Quality and Cost.

Or is there a difference? I don't think there is one poster on this board who would spend more if they knew for a FACT they could get the same or better quality for less cost.

Does cost always equal quality? no. Does cost reflect quality most of the time? I think the answer is yes. However, what is most of the time? 50% 52% 90%? No one really knows. The only way to truly know is to conduct a test.

It's worth mentioning that even expensive broadheads fail & break blades. I've tried a few different cheap ones, they're ok but I usually just keep them in there for small game or a coyote. I actually really like the Redhead Gator. Got em for 19.99 & they're a pretty well built expandable broadhead. For the $ I still love the Grizz Trick II & a pack of replacement blades.

btw if you like the NAP killzones(which I do) get them at Diks Sporting Goods, during the season they always put them on sale and $10 off coupons can be had very easily. Got 3 packs last year after season for 14.99 each. Of course I had to make my wife and son both go through the line with a coupon and pack of broadheads...but whatever works. I'm cheap in that I don't wanna pay a lot not that I want cheap stuff(quality wise).

Your correct. But I would wager that cheap heads fail more than expensive heads

I would buy muzzys if I wanted to buy a cheap head. No offense and to each his own, but I have not had the same luck when I was young and inexperienced with cheapo heads.

If I could get NAPs for 15 bucks I would upgrade, I currently cannot get them for anywhere close to that, let me know when they go on sale man.
