Need some help. What broadhead sharpener on the market is worth its money? I am in need of sharpening some heads and bought a hand held one designed for braodheads. I think it made them duller if thats possible. I am shooting slick tricks. i have wet stones but would like something a little more portable and easy to use.

We designed our broadhead sharpening guide around the slick trick blades. We designed it for low cost, portability and so easy to use a kid can sharpen blades. If you can roll a toy car on a countertop, you can sharp blades. It keeps a consistant angle and puts the scratches in the metal in the correct direction vs those pull though types that destroy blades and make them jagged messes.

In the below video if you fast forward to the 2:14 mark you will see the guide we offer for replaceable blades. We sharpen a damaged and dull slick trick in that video.

Slick trick blades are replaceable and relatively cheap. Save yourself the time and money buy the replacement blades. It will probably cost less than a good blade sharpener would.

    PM sent.

Sharpening is by far a huge $$$ saver over buying new blades. We dont trow away hunting knives and scissors when they dull. Neither should we throw away a broadhead blade that is only dull. Its wasteful when such a low cost and easy solution exists.

Putting a real sharp edge on these black hornets with a 400/1000 stone and the stay sharp. Works very well.

Lansky sharpening system works great for broadheads and knives. Highly recommend. Have been using the same Slick trick blades for many years and they hone up very nicely. The basic kit costs less than 2 sets replacement blades and is all I use.

I have been using the KME Self Aligning Sharpener with a similar wet stone to that picture. I paid about $55 for it all and have not bought anymore broadheads since. Plus it adds to the experience.

3 blade fixed heads (such as Montec) do not require a blade honing guide. They are self guiding. You get the blade angle you get based on the design of the head so no guide is used.

I use Snuffers SS (same style 3 blade) and I sharpen them on wet / dry sandpaper. 600 grit to remove burrs, 2000 grit to make sharp. I lay the sandpaper on a plane of glass with mineral oil for lube then just rub on each face. Works great.

Correct, no need for a guide for 3 blade fixed.
