I think I've read that a few of you have read his books. Today I was on Amazon looking for books specific to hunting deer in the Adirondacks, and I came across one of his books. After doing a bit more research, I realized that he actually grew up in NY, hunting the Adirondacks.

Anyone have thoughts on the quality of his books and advice? I've read some of his stuff in D&DH magazine, but curious about his books. I should have his book "A Guide to Adirondack Deer Hunting" in a few days.........hopefully it's a good one.

I like some of his stuff, but to me he is a little too hung up on moon phase. I know he has done a ton of research on it, but I haven't seen anything personally that supports his theories.

I really like his photography though, even if most of the pics are taken in his research pen. He knows how to capture the moment of a deer's actions and tell the story of what that deer is doing with his photos.

I think he's a good writer. True he's done a ton of research on Lunar Tables and he's worked with a handful of Deer Biologists that are well recognized. I have found some of their predictions to be pretty acurate.

Alsheimer is second to none if you ask me. There's a reason D&DH voted him in the top 5 of people who have contributed the most to deer hunting with the likes of Leopold and Roosevelt.

As far as his lunar research, of course he is going to talk about that as it is his life's work. He has spent the past 14-15 years conducting this research and has some produced some very, very valid results.

Check out his book, you won't be disappointed

I can't imagine anything from Charles being anything but good reading.

I've often referred to Alsheimer as the Hemingway of deer biologists.

As in.. his writing is often dull and meandering to me.

Although his knowledge is worthy his writing bores me to sleep. A master of the word he is not... and sometimes I cannot figure out what the haitis he's trying to spit out.:o

I don't think he can either.
