I picked up a Martin Jaguar Recurve Takedown Bow. The lower limb has the following - @ 28" 40#, 60". I am not sure what the 60" refers to. Does anyone have an idea? I looked around and just can't seem to break that code. In any case, I have a 25" Draw. And, what I need is to figure out if I can change out the limbs to make this legal for me to hunt with. Our state requires a minimum of "40 pounds of pull at full draw". I was wondering 1- Would changing the limbs accomplish this? 2- Would this save me a little cash in the long run, so I can buy arrows?
60" is the bows length. They call this AMO. The AMO is usually 3" longer then your sting. So if you have a 60"amo, you would have a 57" string on your bow. For draw weight on most traditional bows you get about 3 lbs per inch of draw length. Most traditional bows are measured to 28". So if your bow is 40# at 28", and you draw it to 25", your only pulling about 31#. So it would probably be best for you to get 50# limbs for your bow, so then when you hit that 25" draw, you should be at around 41# and be within the legal range for hunting in your state. Hope that makes sense. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Thanks. Given that, I'm thinking 55# limbs, put me above the minimum with room to spare and a little extra punch for cleaner kill. Now, I just gotta find some limbs.
