So I was just wondering how do you know when to change your bow strings and cables. Besides them obviously breaking.

It really depends on the amount of use and also the care you have given them. Also the place of storage is factor, consistent temps and out of direct sunlight.

Even with a lot of shooting I usually have no problem getting a solid year of of a well maintain set. On a bows I dont shoot as much I can stretch it a bit.

Depends on how you take care of your strings. If you properly wax them then I've been told every 3-4 years. If you don't take care of them then only expect 2 years out of them. Another factor is how much you shoot your bow.

Ok then it might be time to change my strings cause I shot for an hour everyday or longer for months and I always left it in a inconsistent environment(my truck) and I never waved my strings.

Check all your specs. Axle to axle, brace, and most importantly get it on a draw board and see if everything is still timed correctly. This all will give you a good indication of any stretching. But the obvious, like serving separation and fray is the first indicator
