I was reading a thread posted earlier about which string brand you use and that got me thinking I have a halon 6 and it has been two years so I plan on getting a new string but do I need to replace my other cables as well? I know its better to be safe than sorry but do the cables wear out like the bow string does?
    Thanks! Paul!

Paul best practice is to replace all components at the same time as you pointed out. However budget and other reasons might not allow for that. As such you would have to inspect each component for wear and replace as required. Bear in mind that depending on the quality of the strings you may get stretch and creep so you will have to deal with that until they settle in and make adjustments to compensate. That is the same with a whole new set as well.

Also with the Halon you have to remove the cam to replace the yokes. Its easy with the right tools but even then some might not feel comfortable doing that. Another thing to consider.

Also take into account its recommended to change your stings but the time frame depends on how much you are shooting them and the environment. For example if you store your bow in the garage where its hot and humid the lifetime can be significantly decreased.

    Does that help?

It does copper head thank you! Ill have to look at my cables and make a judgment call I know they are showing some wear on the serving where it runs through the roller but there is no fraying or cuts that are noticeable.

Also, consider that if you change the entire string and cable set, you can sit your old set aside for a backup, particularly if you have a problem in the middle of the season.

It is best to change everything at once. The added cost of the cable set isn't much when you compare it to the price of the top line bow.

Change them all together. Yours threads are a pretty important part of your bow! ;)
