The little trees under 14" are the hardest to control, good luck.

Double notch the stump and use holding wood to swerve the tree to the ground, no need for wedges just a solid finger on the throttle. I took all my fire training for tree cutting and thru it out the window and learned from loggers.

Cut trees like you were not held enough as a child.

They are all in dense areas so going to get lots of hang ups even if I'm perfect. I'll throw some pics in the thread when I get at um.

Sounds like a good spot to cut several trees almost all the way through and then fall a final one into them to knock the rest of them down like dominoes. May help to keep from tripping each tree individually and having a bunch of hang ups to mess with.

Do you really want those shoes to cut wood in?

Can't say that they would be my first pick at least not here in the snow right now.

Got to try them. I was the same way, then one day just ordered a pair. Now I use them almost daily for something. This time of year is great if I need to do something real fast in the garage.

Any recommendations for an all around chainsaw? Just bought some land and need to clean it up a bit, was considering the Stihl- MS271

I don't think you can go wrong with that saw. But nobody ever regrets spending a few extra $ on a slightly bigger saw.

I have a neighbor that has a 291 and he likes it. All of my saws are bigger and are Jonsereds or Huqvarna.

What does the best dealer in your area carry for saws?

If he owns a husqvarna what does he need a dealer for? Last 2 I have owned I never even had to pull the spark plug.

I had the exact same situation last year. I bought the Farm Boss and absolutely love it. But I do wish I would have listened to @Sota and bought the biggest saw I could afford. I don't need a 660 but a 462 would have been awesome. I heard they are coming out with a 500 that looks amazing.
