Chain O' Lakes Final Practice Shoot before IL Opener

For everyone located in the northern IL or even southern WI area if anyone is interested in getting together for a shoot next Sunday morning let me know. I am planning to head over to Chain O' Lakes state park off of 173 in Antioch around 9am Sunday morning for some final practice time before Illinois opener the next weekend. For those not familiar with it is a free range with targets at 10, 20, 30 & 40. They also have a tower for shooting off of. Would be a blast to get a bunch of us together for this so let me know.

I already spoke with Peakrut and I know he is planning on attending around 10ish after his morning hunt so let em know if anyone else is intersted!

I just got my girlfriend a bow over the weekend and she already loves shooting so I know shwith e is looking forward to going also.

Dude, I live only 15 minutes from there! Do you access the range off of 173 just East of the Fox River bridge as I've never been there? If I am not hunting in WI I'll swing by! Can we use BHs as that is all I have been shooting for the past month?

I know whenever I went in the past they had a broadhead target setup. The targets here are all haybails with backstops. I suggest you bring a few paper targets just in case the ones at the range are all torn up. I know Isaiah and Peak have been to it recently so I will check with them regarding broadheads.

The enterence is the drive just west of the river on the south side.

Would be great if you can make it out!

You can use broadheads in the sand pits but I have seen others shoot into the hay bales.(I don't!) They also have a 14 course target range through the woods. I can only hunt afternoons right now so I should have no problem making it out.
Now if the Wheeling archery club who helps maintain the range comes out we could run into one crowded place.

 

can anyone give me direction to the range? I have never been there.
I hope it's not to crowed. We can always meet out at the blackwell forest preserve they don't have an elevated platform but you can shoot out to about 90 yards if you wanted to.

Peakrut texted me earlier and said he would swing by the range tomorrow to see the condition and give us a report.

If it was not my Wedding Ann I would of came but I think I better make momma proud due to hunting starting a few days after! Sorry buddy or I would of been there.
