Does anyone hunt the public land within a half hour of St. Cloud and if so would you want to compare notes privately or on here?

MnHunterr and Sota may be able to help you out a little bit, that's their stomping grounds.

some good potential in the area, especially on WPA's, just have to have a nice run and gun setup. The downside is when the pheasant season opens those chunks get walked hard

What area are you hunting? I'll be in Sherburne Wildlife Refuge this year.

The Sherburne along the St. Francis river about 4 miles south of County 4 on 15, there is a guy I know that has shot some nice bucks in that area.

Avon is a SNA (Sientific and Natural Area) open to bowhunting only. I see parked vehicles at both the parcel northwest of Avon and the parcel south southeast of Avon every time I drive by which is quite often during the season. Can’t use anything that damages the tree and NO cutting of any vegetation. So no shooting lane clearing and no trimming anything to hang a stand or place a ground blind. From what I know having lived just west of the parcel that is south southeast of Avon for severeral years in what is known as the Avon Hills is the quality of the deer in those hills is marginal as there is decent hunting pressure. I can also tell you that access to both parcels is pretty much limited to very small parking areas so everyone that goes there is walking in from the exact same access so you will either be walking in past someone or have someone walking in past you. There are better less pressured public parcels in the area if you do you research. I hunt both public and my families farm in the Albany area as well as public in several other areas of the state.
